The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday confirmed the schedule for an exciting two-match Test series against Bangladesh, set to take place next month. This series will kick off Pakistan’s 2024-25 home international season, featuring matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi.
Test Series Schedule
- First Test: August 21-25 in Rawalpindi
- Second Test: August 30-September 3 in Karachi
Bangladesh last played a Test in Pakistan in February 2020. This return is highly anticipated and marks an important chapter in both teams’ ICC World Test Championship journeys.
Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury expressed his gratitude to the PCB for confirming the schedule, stating, “The series presents a significant test for us, but it is also a chance to showcase our progress in this format.”
Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, shared his enthusiasm: “As a team, we are looking forward to returning to Pakistan for the ICC World Test Championship. Playing in Pakistan is always challenging but exciting, and we will have to be at our very best to compete against a formidable home side in their backyard.”
New Beginnings for Pakistan
This series will be Jason Gillespie’s first assignment as the head coach of the Pakistan Test team, following his appointment in April. It will also be Shan Masood’s second assignment as captain, after leading the side in a three-Test series against Australia last year, where Pakistan faced a tough 3-0 defeat.
Pakistan and Bangladesh have faced each other in 13 Test matches since their first encounter in the Asian Test Championship in 2001. Pakistan boasts an undefeated record against Bangladesh, securing 12 victories and one draw.
With both teams eager to prove themselves, this series promises to be a thrilling display of Test cricket.
