The HUM Awards and Controversies Related to Hiba Bukhari
The HUM Awards that took place in London offered a golden chance to Pakistani celebrities to perform on a global platform. But just before the event, there was a controversy when Nadia Khan uncovered that actress Hiba Bukhari is pregnant. This disclosure received a lot of criticism from people because it was indicated that it should not come through the media but from the couple directly.
Before attending the awards, Hiba Bukhari announced her pregnancy with her husband, Arez Ahmed through a personal vlog. On the red carpet she was glowing, happy and fully confident because of her pregnancy. However, this time of victory was followed by criticism from netizens.
Every Human Is Different
Nonetheless, actress Mira Sethi also stood up for Hiba and commented on her thoughts about the issue in social networks. She said, “What’s ‘baghairat’ about being pregnant—and beautiful!—and arriving at workplace? Her, her body, her beauty, her green dress and her choice. Here’s to Hiba Bukhari and all the other women out there just as strong, resilient and beautiful in face of such insults”. Sethi explained that the negative comments were in an attempt to ensure that the women were driven back into the dungeon of invisibility, and she urged those who had been threatened to come forward.
The Hate Against ‘Our’ Culture
Anoushey Ashraf’s critique: However, there were still many supporters of the hate speech in Pakistan, as pointed out by Anoushey Ashraf. She said ‘Everyone in Pakistan loves to hate and has the time to do it because their lives are also almost pathetic.’ If you were happy with your existence, you wouldn’t be so quick to take offense at anyone else’s way of life.” Anoushey noted.
She went on to bash the bigoted lovers who hide behind religion to express their hatred by saying “They spit vile in everything they see and say, and it’s religion at it again!” It’s a coping mechanism. One can imagine what kind of knowledge of life and religion means the ability to submit such a letter. It takes all the fun out of the ideology if those two just demonstrate their displeasure all the time. So all we can do is pity them.”
However, Hiba Bukhari has not let the negative feedback about being an expectant mother bring her down and press on with it. Just for the record, I really appreciated how strong Hiba Bukhari appeared as a mom-to-be, she was radiant doing her thing and just living her life!! Kudos!”
