Apple has hinted that it’s iOS 18.2 update will be made available to users by December. The reveal comes hot on the heels of the iOS 18.1 and Apple Intelligence launch at the iMac Announcement event on Monday, October 28.

While iOS 18.1 comes with its fair share of upgrades, it’s the iOS 18.2 launch that users must look out for, with much more powerful updates and perks!

Best iOS 18.2 features

ChatGPT, Advanced Writing Tools: With iOS 18.2, Apple will be integrating ChatGPT with its Apple Intelligence. This means, where Apple AI fails, it will utilize ChatGPT’s vast knowledge to get the task done, all while ensuring your data privacy.

ChatGPT will be integrated with Apple’s Writings Tools and Siri, and will be an optional feature. With Advanced Writing Tools, Apple Intelligence will help you write, proofread, and edit your written content.

Genmoji, Image Playground: One of the most exciting iOS 18.2 features is Genmoji, AI-generated emojis that you can generate with your own prompts! That’s not all; the Image Playground suite will also offer Image Wand alongside Genmoji, with which users can transform sketches into images, or use generative AI to generate or edit images based on prompts.

Visual Intelligence: With the Visual Intelligence feature, exclusive to iPhone 16 users, users could use the new Camera Control feature to point the camera and identify places and different objects, or read and translate scanned text.

With the iOS 18.2, iPhone users will also be able to change app defaults, including for Email, Messaging, Browser Apps, and Keyboards. Users will also be able to delete stock apps like App Store, Camera, Photos, Messaging, or even Safari, and later redownload from an App Installation feature in the Settings app.

iOS 18.2 release date

In a welcome announcement for Apple enthusiasts, the Tim Cook led tech giant shared on Monday, “New Apple Intelligence features will be available in December, with additional capabilities rolling out in the coming months.”

While the exact release date is yet to be announced by Apple, the full iOS 18.2 release is expected to go on floors by mid-December; in recent years, Apple has dropped second versions of its iOS updates between December 11-13, with the iOS 15.2, iOS 16.2, and iOS 17.2, all launching between these dates.

Apple is expected to launch iOS 18.2 anytime between December 10-15.
