Jason Gillespie’s departure from the role of red-ball head coach has stirred the cricketing pot. While the official word from Gillespie cites “personal reasons,” insiders suggest otherwise. He reportedly refused to travel to South Africa for a specialized training camp, a move that caught many off guard.
Sources close to the situation reveal that his decision was influenced by the PCB’s controversial choice not to extend red-ball assistant coach Tim Nielsen’s contract. Gillespie was said to be displeased with the decision, which seems to have been the final straw in his growing discontent with the board.

For Aqib Javed, it’s a busy time. Already in South Africa with the white-ball squad, Aqib now has an additional hat to wear. The two-match Test series, starting December 26 in Centurion and wrapping up in Cape Town on January 3, will be his first test (pun intended) as the red-ball head coach.
