The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced Babar Azam’s reinstatement as the white-ball captain, leading both the ODI and T20I teams yesterday.
The decision came following a unanimous recommendation from the PCB’s selection committee, with Chairman Mohsin Naqvi spearheading the appointment process.
After a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to discuss plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Babar Azam was entrusted with the leadership reins of the team, reflecting the board’s confidence in his capabilities.
Babar’s previous stint as captain across formats ended after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2023, with Shaheen Shah Afridi taking over the T20I captaincy and Shan Masood assuming the Test captaincy. However, no captain was announced for the ODIs at that time.
