The holy month of Ramadan has begun and transmissions on all leading channels have kickstarted their round of public registrations.
In a recent move, the Punjab Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution to ban celebrities from attending and hosting transmissions throughout the month.
The purpose of the resolution is to persuade Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban stars and popular entertainment luminaires to feature in Ramadan transmission.
The members of the assembly condemned the idea of celebrities hosting Ramadan programs instead of religious scholars helming the content as they lack the knowledge needed to conduct the transmissions.
Fawad Chaudhry & Actors Collective Trust Condemn the Bill
Following the news, Actors Collective Trust took to Twitter and condemned the demand put forward by Punjab Assembly.
ACT does not approve of the discriminatory bill passed by Punjab Assembly on barring actors for Ramadan Transmissions. We protest it with PEMRA as well as Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.”

He blasted Punjab Assembly for approving the resolution to ban Pakistani stars from Ramadan transmission.
Totally agree Politicians must not try to monopolize Islam, you cannot pass moral Judgements every Muslim is good Muslim, really hopeless conduct of Punjab Assembly
