Mehwish Hayat has won the hearts of millions of Pakistanis with her stellar acting skills and larger than life screen presence!

The diva has starred in a number of massive projects over the last couple of years, including award-winning movies Jawani Phir Nai Ani and Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

I was honoured to be awarded the Pakistan Icon Plaque in recognition of my film work over the past few years. I have always said that I do not judge my success by awards, but this one was different because it was international recognition for everything that we have achieved in our industry. To share the platform with members of our fraternity from across the border and to be considered on equal standing with them was very rewarding. It was acknowledgement of how far we have come in such a short time. We no longer have to live in anybody's shadow. We are all very naive if we think that films and artists can overcome 70 years of history and deep politics. True collaboration is much more than casting actors from across the border in each others films. But it seems like her latest project will be the most ground-breaking of all!

Mehwish has just given a major hint that she will be donning the role of the slain PPP leader, Benazir Bhutto and we just can’t control our excitement over this BIG news.

Revealing the news on social media, the pretty ‘Actor In law’ star shared the huge announcement with her fans.

"We have broken glass ceilings, we have broken the stereotypes, and we have been and continue to be prepared to go the extra mile, to be judged by unrealistic standards, to be held more accountable." Today would have been Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's 65th birthday. It is an ideal time to reflect on her undoubted achievements. I have never really been a political person but leaving that aside there is no denying the great strides she made for women's empowerment and equality in our country – everything we are still fighting for even today. There was a time when she made women believe that almost anything was possible – she gave us hope and inspired us to reach for the stars. I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to research and learn more about her life and sitting here I can only reflect on so much more that could have been had she not lost her life so tragically. The sign of a true leader is the legacy they leave behind and the reverence with which the people remember her irrespective of party allegiances. Sitting serenely in an “Instagram perfect” setting, Mehwish is spotted reading a book by the famous leader.

Quoting a famous saying, she announced the project.

She expressed how much Bhutto had left an impact on not just her life but of millions of others and her struggle for women empowerment:
