Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and the PTI Government has decided to raise the grant for Benazir Income Support Program to PKR 5,000.
According to PM Khan, almost 55 lakh Pakistanis who are deserving will be able to make the most of the grants.
The PM also added that the protection of downtrodden segments of the society was a top priority of the government and a comprehensive programme for poverty alleviation would be launched very soon.

Finance Minister Asad Umar, Advisor to the PM, Dr Isharat Hussain, Special Assistant to the PM, Iftikhar Durrani, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Dr Sania Nishtar and other senior officials were also a part of the meeting.

Earlier, Chairperson Benazir Income Support programme Dr Sania Nishtar had briefed the Prime Minister about the future course of action about the poverty alleviation and provision of respectable employment top those living under the poverty line.
