Many brands have now introduced shopping bags as part of their products. Offering shopping bags may be a new marketing strategy or simply may just be a step towards being earth friendly.
A change of pattern has been seen in many brands, whatever the reason may be. New and more sustainable products have been launched by a lot of the brands. One such product is paper bags instead of plastic bags.
Why Are Paper Bags Better?
Paper bags have some advantages over plastic bags when it comes to sustainability. They are easier to recycle, and, because they are biodegradable, they can be used for purposes like composting. Bags that can not be recycled end up becoming litter, because they do not biodegrade. In addition to filling up landfills and becoming eyesores, plastic bags that become litter endanger many facets of the environment, including marine life and the food chain. Also, many paper bags can withstand more pressure or weight than plastic bags so now customers can shop as much as they want without worrying about how they’ll carry it.
Why Are Brands Charging For Them?ย
Everything comes at a price. And, when it’s the bare minimum of Rs.50, it’s a bargain. Many brands charge an average amount of Rs.50 for these bags at the time of checkout. Paper is very resource-heavy to produce. Manufacturing a paper bag takes about four times as much energy as it takes to produce a plastic bag. This means higher production costs for the company. Almost every brand has profit maximization as one of its aims. So, if they try to cut costs, it might just be fair enough.
Although, not everyone may agree with this point of view but on the brighter side, this can be thought of as a little gift from the brand to its brand-conscious customers. Along with being earth friendly, sustainable, and a fan-favorite brand, companies introducing paper bags is a really good initiative.
