On Monday, Sindh education authorities decided that the new academic year in Sindh will start from June 1. In a press conference held in Karachi, Minister for Education Saeed Ghani said that all the necessary steps by the government to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

A few days ago, Sindh government has announced the extension of school holidays amid the coronavirus outbreak. However, students of ninth and matric were to have their board examinations which also have postponed.

Announcing the new academic year, Saeed Ghani said, โ€œExams for the classes 1st to 8th will be held from June 1 to June 15. After the results, students will be promoted to next classes”.

He also added that exams for ninth and metric will commence from June 15 and end on June 30, and the result will be announced on August 15.

Furthermore, intermediate exams will commence from July 06 and all the exams will be held in the afternoon. Adding on to this, he said that under the new education scheme, second-year results will be announced on September 15.

The new academic year for first and second year will start from August 1.

Ever since Coronavirus has spread all across the world, many organizations and institutions have decided to shut down or have asked their staff to operate from home. Previously,ย  schools in Pakistan were also ordered to shut down to ensure children’s safety until 13th March 2020 amid Coronavirus threat.

Previously, the Sindh government announced that matriculation and intermediate examinations will start as per schedule, in a notification that was released by the provincial education department.

Sindh board exams to be postponed until further notice

As the Sindh government has extended the school holidays due to coronavirus pandemic, the schools will now reopen from 1st June 2020. Previously, the 9th and 10th board examinations were to commence from 16th March but now, they’ve been postponed until further notice.
