Over the weekend, Sindh Food Authority (SFA) did a quality inspection of Boat Basin restaurants in Clifton.
Over 2 dozen eateries were raided out of which 2 were sealed and 12 fined for poor quality. SFA Director Abrar gave the management 15 days to improve the conditions and hygiene standard.
If SFA’s suggestions are not implemented by the given deadline, strict action will be taken against them, even leading to permanent shutdown.
During the raid, SFA team not only inspected the overall hygiene conditions of the restaurants but also checked the raw material used in food preparation -SFA Director
The restaurants were serving rotten meat and the freezers in which the meat was stored were also in poor condition. Our team has confiscated the meat and has issued a warning to the culprits
SFA officials also disclosed that the sealed Boat Basin restaurants were using sub-substandard oil, spices, and materials. Nonetheless, they failed to provide any receipts for those items.
