Nascimento began his professional career in 2012, two months after the passing of his mentor, Nascimento amassed a perfect 8-0 record in local Brazilian competition, dispatching every opponent he faced in four submission losses and two knockout victories. On July 30, 2019, he also competed in Dana White’s Contender Series 22 against Michal Martinek. He obtained a contract with the UFC by winning the fight through an arm triangle in the opening round. He has also achieved the Ultimate Fighting Championship title. Many Muslims on Twitter have also welcomed him with open arms.
