Yet another day has arrived where Chahat Fateh Ali Khan is in hot waters. Currently, the comedic singer is facing charges of up to Rs180 Million for defamation. A legal notice has been placed demanding damages for allegedly defaming the legendary musician Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Mian Muhammad Umair Niaz issued the notice. It was done so on behalf of Qaiser Munir Khan and was sent to Chahat’s residence in the UK.
The notice dictates that Chahat Fateh Ali Khan has 15 days to apologize publically. otherwise, a lawsuit will be filed.
Chahat Fateh Ali Khan Faces Lawsuit
Chahat Fateh is accused of tarnishing Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s name. Offending the people of Faisalabad, and violating the Copyright Act that exists to protect artists. The notice claims that Chahat falsely portrayed himself as a relative of the late musician. While he harmed Nusrat’s legacy through his singing.
Additionally, the people of Faisalabad were noted to have been angered by Chahat’s performances. He was even embarrassed off the stage. The legal notice demands that Chahat issue a public apology on social media. Legal action and a defamation suit for Rs180 million will be pursued if he fails to do so within the next 15 days.
