The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has decided to stop gas supply to CNG stations and power producing companies in Sindh for an indefinite period.
Consequently, CNG stations across the province have been closed till further notice.
According to a notification, all CNG stations in Sindh, including Karachi, will remain closed till further notice.
Apparently, Karachi is facing a shortage of gas for the last five days. Two gas field of SSGC—Tando Jam and Gambat gas field—have been suffering from a gas shortage.
As a result, CNG associations have also announced protests against SSGC’s decision to halt gas supply to stations across Sindh.
They have threatened to block Shahrah-e-Faisal if supply was not resumed.
Commuters are now facing immense problems because of the shortage of public transport on roads. Buses and mini-buses may halt their operations too.
