A few years ago we the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Wing became noiceably active in Pakistan.
They emphasized on the cyber crime laws in place, and paid special importance to abiding by the rules and regulations and the punishment.
Recently, the FIA has arrested a woman for being involved in cybercrime activities by using an illegal gateway.
According to the FIA (Sindh chapter) spokesman, the raid was conducted by the FIA Cybercrime Karachi on a house in Nazimabad No. 2. During the raid, they seized illegal equipment seven gateway, six eight ports, a sixteen ports device, a TP link router, three laptops, Internet USB and 175 SIMs.
The woman arrested was caught running an illegal gateway exchange, which was resulting in a huge loss to the government exchequer.
Never before has a woman been caught operating the gray exchange, however, after this incident the likelihood of it seems much greater.
Turns out the woman is named Sidra Kaleem. An FIR has been registered against her and others involved in her business under sections 13, 14, 16 and 17 of the PECA 2016 read with Section 31 of the Pak Telecom reorganization Act 1996 read with sections 420 and 109 of the PPC.
Further raids are in progress to arrest Amir Zaman, Ali Asfi, Sajood and other suspects involved in the case.
Seems like the Cyber Crime Wing really is active and keeps a regular eye on the happenings of the Pakistani web.
