The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved income tax exemptions for the International Cricket Council (ICC) in connection with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. According to an official press release, “the committee reviewed the summary presented by the Revenue Division, noting that these exemptions are in accordance with international best practices for hosting major sporting events.”

The meeting was led by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb. The press release further explained that โ€œin accordance with the standardized hosting rights agreement between the ICC and Pakistan, no taxes or deductions will be imposed on the revenues of the ICC, its subsidiaries, associates, officials and non-resident delegates.โ€ However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other Pakistani residents will still be required to pay income tax on their earnings from the tournament. “Sales Tax and Federal Excise Duty exemptions will not apply.”
