Empowering Women is Key to Pakistan’s Economy: Nigar Johar

Lt. Gen. Nigar Johar (Retd) has stressed the significant role women play in the development of Pakistan’s economy during her recent visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

While speaking to ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, Nigar Johar highlighted that the women in our country, who mark up half of the population, should be empowered to participate meaningfully in economic progress.

“Pakistan cannot afford to neglect its women who are determined to serve the country. Their empowerment is vital for the economic wellbeing of the nation.” Johar stated.

Johar called for inclusive economic policies and enhanced contribution of women in different sectors. She underscored empowering women as the key to a stronger economy. The discussion also focused significance of linkages between academia and industry.

Dr Johar Khan emphasised that education should be business and industry-focused to help students transition from job seekers to job creators. She added, “Our youth must be equipped to become entrepreneurs, contributing to the economy rather than relying on traditional employment.”
