On Saturday, Honda Motor Co. revealed the second model in its brand-new electric vehicle portfolio for China only, aiming to capture the rapidly expanding battery-driven automobile industry in the largest auto market in the world.
The e:N Series
The Japanese manufacturer announced last year that it intended to release EV vehicles over the following five years under a new brand named “e:N Series” alongside partners GAC and Dongfeng Motor.
In April, the first model in China was sold. With a variety of distinctive and varied electric mobility goods that only Honda can provide, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe said in a statement that the company is developing into an electric brand in China.
A key challenge facing Honda and its major Japanese peers, Toyota Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co., is catching up to rivals such as Tesla Inc. who have forged ahead in the EV sector.
The Design
Sharp, dynamic body lines, and surface finishing that emphasize the metallic appearance are included in the e:N2 concept’s external design, which aims to present novel styling that does not fit into any preexisting categories.
The interior was created with the intention of highlighting the significance of this electric vehicle as a “place” where users can experience “intellectual thrill.”
Honda set a goal earlier this year to launch 30 EV models globally and produce about 2 million EVs annually by 2030. It announced last year that, starting in 2030, it would solely sell battery-electric, hydrogen fuel-cell, or petrol-electric cars in China. Its two joint ventures, GAC-Honda and Dongfeng-Honda, intend to construct brand-new assembly factories that will only produce electric vehicles starting in 2024.
