Fakhar Zaman have recently made some candid revelations and sparked conversations in the cricketing world. Known for his explosive batting, the left-hander has been in the spotlight lately, not for his on-field heroics but for a tweet supporting Babar Azam and the subsequent chatter it stirred.
The Tweet That Turned Heads
Before Pakistan announced their squad for the second and third Tests against England in October, Fakhar tweeted in support of Babar Azam. The message seemed harmless at first glance but he was later omitted from the squads for tours to Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
The timing led to speculation. Was Fakhar criticizing the PCB? Was he taking a stand against the system? These questions floated around until Fakhar set the record straight.
Clearing the Air
In a recent interview, Fakhar addressed the controversy head-on. He admitted that, in hindsight, the tweet might have been better left unsent. But his intention, he clarified, was never to criticize the PCB.
โSome people misunderstood my tweet. It wasnโt against the board at all,โ Fakhar said, adding that his message was aimed at journalists and former players calling for Babarโs exclusion from the squad.
โBabar has done so much for Pakistan cricket. Seeing people question his place in the team felt unfair,โ Fakhar explained.
The Fitness Dilemma
While the tweet grabbed headlines, Fakharโs fitness issues also became part of the narrative. The 34-year-old revealed he had been battling hyperthyroidism, a condition that required a two-month rest.
โI wasnโt aware of my condition when the team was leaving for Australia,โ Fakhar shared. โLooking back, Iโm thankful I didnโt travel. In that state, performing at the highest level would have been impossible.โ

Fakhar also noted that his decision to step back was mutual. โThe PCB and I had an understanding about my rest period. There was no bad blood,โ he emphasized.
Fakharโs last appearance for Pakistan was during the ICC Menโs T20 World Cup in June 2024. While fans eagerly await his return, the opener remains focused on his recovery and fitness.
For now, he seems determined to silence the noise around him. His message is clear: his loyalty to Pakistan cricket is unwavering, and his respect for Babar Azam is rooted in the skipperโs undeniable contributions to the team.
