Seeing the traffic situation of Karachi, you need a huge traffic police force. But here is the thing; we still have an unequal representation of genders in it even though the population on the streets has male as well as female drivers. But Karachi Traffic Police is doing their fair share by inducting female traffic police members into the organization.
Karachi Traffic Police and their effort
Karachi Traffic Police has deployed a total of four female traffic police members. They can be spotted on Shahrah e Faisal and Clifton. They are trained motorcyclists who monitor traffic and keep a close check on the civilian motorcyclists. Moreover, they can even assist with broken cars and call for assistance where needed.
Unfortunately, though, the female traffic police squad does not have the right to register challan for traffic rules violations. That said, this move is a clear indication that they realize they need female representation. Hence, with time, not only will the number of women increase in the police force but they will also get more rights when dealing with the public.

Seeing more women as police officers on the street, it is quite possible that ultimately this misogynistic society will change, and hopefully for the better. Until then, we will try and feel happy at the accomplishment for the female gender witnessed today on the streets of Karachi that bustled with traffic.
