Global Business Leaders are Partcipating in “Sustainable Tourism Forum” & Making Pakistan a Hub of Tourism among OIC Countries

Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Development (ICCD), an affiliated Institution of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in collaboration with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is organizing “Sustainable Tourism Forum” on 30th – 31st January 2025 at Karachi Marriott Hotel under the theme of “Transforming Tourism for Community Development”.

The role of the private sector is increasing and making ICCD a proven and preferable organization due to its market access among 57 member OIC countries. ICCD is providing all the support to promote and expand business to various continents.

The objective of the Forum is to introduce Pakistan as a hub for Sustainable Tourism among the OIC Countries. The Forum will create awareness about Sustainable Tourism, highlighting the investment opportunities in the Tourism Sector among OIC countries, promote the tourist flow, promote public – private partnership in tourism, Promoting the Sustainable Tourism Destinations, the role of the banking and the financial sector and the Successful Ventures in the Tourism Industry.

The Forum has been adopted by the 48th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, held on 22nd – 23rd March 2022 in Islamabad, hosted by the Government of Pakistan, which states as follows:

Welcomes the initiative taken by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (ICCIA) to organize a Sustainable Tourism Forum in Pakistan.

Similarly, the 11th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM), held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 27-29 June 2022 adopted the following resolution:

Welcome the offer of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to host first OIC Forum on Sustainable Tourism in collaboration with the OIC General Secretariat and ICCIA and requests the Member States and other stakeholders to actively participate in the Forum.

Sustainable Tourism is a way of traveling that leaves a minimum negative impact on the places visited and preferably leaves a positive impact on society. Sustainable Tourism relies on the premise of taking care of the environment, society, culture and economy.

Tourism is one of the world’s fastest growing and most important industries and a major revenue source for many countries. This outstanding Forum will be attended by the senior business groups, Chamber of Commerce of OIC countries, Travel experts, Investors and estimation of more than one hundred foreign delegates, exhibitors, investors from leading OIC countries, including Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Turkiye, Malaysia, Indonesia, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and others.  The forum will strengthen the status of Pakistan as a hub for Sustainable Tourism among OIC Countries and a great opportunity for the benefit of public & private sector of Pakistan.

According to the Global Tourism statistics, the year 2024 is setting new records of growth with an estimated figure of over 1.5 billion tourists, USD 11.1 Trillion and stands as the 3rd largest industry in the world. We are organizing this Forum in Pakistan at this time of global boom and opening a gateway of opportunities for Pakistan and other Countries to take optimum advantage and to display tourism potentials. The forum can serve as a platform for sustainable tourism and will bring synergies for all participating Countries, showcasing their tourism potentials for fostering collaboration across regions. STF promotes sustainable tourism, attracts FDI and makes Pakistan a prominent sustainable tourism destination.

The Forum will be held physically for two days. On first day of the program, four panels will be held, where high profiles speakers / experts from Pakistan and other OIC Countries will make presentations; On second day, parallel workshops will be held on different themes of the Sustainable Tourism.
