Grand Theft Auto 6 is arguably the most anticipated game of 2025. A recent leak may have given fans an early look at its official release date. A listing on the website of video game retailer XUruguay briefly displayed a launch date of September 17, 2025, before being removed.
A Credible Leak or Just Speculation?
The date fits into publisher Take-Two Interactive’s earlier announced plan for an autumn 2025 release. The coincidence also happens to be exactly 12 years since GTA V launched on September 17, 2013. This has caused many to strongly believe that the leaked date might actually be true.
According to 80 Level, a gaming site, XUruguay, contacted them saying they work directly with PlayStation for the product listings. If true, this may mean that the early reveal was the result of miscommunication between the retailer and the game developers.
Is XUruguay a Reliable Source?
Fans have asked questions regarding the authenticity of the leak. Even though XUruguay has a 5-star rating on Tripadvisor and a 97% trust score on ScamAdviser, it does not guarantee the truth about the leaked date of release.

Interestingly, the listing was pulled and replaced with a very vague description stating, “A new GTA installment exclusive to PS5,” which further fueled speculation that the date was posted too early.
When will Rockstar Confirm the Release Date?
Although the leak has occurred, Rockstar Games has not yet confirmed an official release date. Considering the growing curiosity and popularity of the franchise, an announcement from the developers is expected soon.
Until then, fans will have to wait and see whether the rumoured September 17 launch becomes a reality, or if it’s just another case of over-eager retailers jumping the gun. Either way, the countdown to GTA 6 has officially begun.
