GTA 6, a game yet to be released, has won its first award at The Game Awards 2024. The Rockstar Games’ title is currently targeting a Fall 2025 release window, sending the gaming community into a frenzy.
Other nominees included Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Ghost of Yotei, Metroid Prime 4:Beyond, and Monster Hunter Wilds. If nothing else, GTA 6 winning the award out of all the famous names shows how much fans are looking forward to the new title.

Extraordinary Yet Amusing
Despite the extraordinary award, no one from the GTA 6 team was present when the announcement was made at The Game Awards. Geoff moved right past when the audience started clapping, beginning to announce the next category winners. This, unfortunately, didn’t give the fans a chance to hear from the makers of the game.
Rumours of a Possible Delay
Unfortunately, the excitement from fans did not last very long. Rumours of potential delay began looming and fans are clearly not taking them very well. Recently, Jason Schreier, one of the most well-known video game journalists in recent history, said on a podcast that he’d be shocked if the game even made it next year.
“I think it will probably slip again because Rockstar Games always slip… But as of right now, Take-Two is saying they’re still on track. Let’s see if that’s the case in a few months,” he added.
From Most Wanted to Most Anticipated
Last month at the Golden Joystick Awards, Grand Theft Auto Sequel won the award for the Most Wanted Game. This award was received by a Rockstar representative. With Rockstar Games winning two awards one after another, fans can’t help but be amused.
With the award win, fans of GTA 6 are more excited than ever to indulge in the game. Only time will tell when that happens.
