The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has released a crucial announcement for students and parents ahead of the university admissions season. The purpose is to prevent any potential issues for students in the future. In their announcement, the education commission emphasized that students and parents should verify the accreditation of the university they are applying to. This means ensuring that the university is registered with the relevant accrediting body.

The HEC took to its official Twitter account to deliver the message and to assist students in their verification process, the HEC provided a list of courses and their respective accrediting bodies:

1. Computing 

Students applying for computing programs should confirm that their chosen university is registered with the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC).

2. Business

Business schools must be registered with the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) for their degrees to be considered valid by the HEC.

3. Agriculture 

All agriculture schools should be registered with the National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC).

4. Homeopathy, Tibb

Students pursuing homeopathy courses need to ensure that the institution they are applying to is registered with the National Council for Homeopathy (NCH). Similarly, those interested in Tibb must confirm the accreditation of their prospective school with the National Council for Tibb (NCT).

5. Law

For law degrees to be recognized by the HEC, law schools must be accredited by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC).

6. Pharmacy

Students interested in pharmacy courses should verify that their desired institute is registered with the Pakistan Pharmacy Council (PCP).

7. Architecture

Architecture and design schools must be registered with the Pakistan Council for Architects and Town Planners (PCATP).

8. Medical, Dentistry, Nursing

Medical universities must be accredited by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Similarly, nursing schools must be accredited by the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).

9. Engineering

Engineering schools must be accredited by the Pakistan Engineers Council (PEC) to ensure the validity of their degrees recognized by the HEC.

The HEC also highlighted that professional degree programs encompass various fields such as Engineering, Medicine & Dentistry, Veterinary Education, Nursing, Architecture and Town Planning, Pharmacy, Law, Homeopathy, Tibb, Agriculture, Business, Computing, Teacher Education, and Technology. These programs require accreditation from the respective professional councils. To verify the accreditation status of a desired program, students can visit the websites of the relevant professional councils.
