The higher education commission of Pakistan is going to provide sublime opportunities to Pakistani scholars to pursue PhD studies in the US through the US-PAK knowledge corridor. These scholarships aim to create a pool of highly qualified individuals who demonstrate a promise of achieving true distinction in research as well as sustaining teaching excellence at all levels.

Applications are now open for applicants in the competition of HEC scholarships available in the USA for 2022. In addition, the HEC has announced the universities for the applicable scholarships in fall 2022, and spring 2023. Students who wish to pursue scholarships have to apply on the HEC website.

US-PAK Knowledge Corridor
The knowledge corridor between the US and Pakistan is designed to offer opportunities to 1000 scholars to establish Pakistani scholars in America. Knowledge Corridor is envisioned as a paradigm shift in the advancement of human capital/education which ultimately supports long-term economic growth as well as independence.

In June 2015, the United States and Pakistan established an Education, Science and Technology Working Group (ESTWG) under the Bilateral Strategic Dialogue discussed the proposal during the meeting of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and President of the USA to establish US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor. However, both the dignitaries directed their respective governments to intensify their cooperation in this important framework to achieve the ambitious priority targets of developing high-level human capital envisioned in Pakistan’s policy document Vision 2025.
According to the Plan, ten thousand (10,000) Pakistani scholars will join US universities in the next ten years. As an effort of the Government of Pakistan to train its faculty resources in identified subject areas.
Phase – 1 of the plan approved by ECNEC on Jan 25, 2017, and revised later in August 2020 envisions the award of 1000 PhD scholarships to outstanding Pakistani students in US Universities under the project titled “PhD Scholarships under the US – Pak Knowledge Corridor-Phase -1”
Scholarship Categories
- Category I – Scholarship (Top 50 QS Ranked US Universities)
For this category of scholarship, prospective applicants must have.
Secured admission in the top 50 QS World Ranked US Universities. Valid GRE – General Score (Minimum 300 in total) OR HAT (Minimum 60%)
- Category II -Scholarship (Top 300 QS Ranked US Universities)
For this category of scholarship, a prospective applicant must have.
Secured admission to a US University that falls in the list of top 300 QS World Rankings. Valid GRE – General Score (Minimum 300 in total) OR HAT (Minimum 60%)
- Category – III Scholarship (Without Tuition/Designated US Universities)
For this category of scholarship, a prospective applicant must have.
Secured admission along with a complete tuition waiver for the entire scholarship period in a designated US University.
