Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms, in experimenting with a new feature. It will help individuals recover their accounts if they’ve been hacked or if they’ve been locked out.
As of now, if someone’s account has been compromised, they have to send an email to verify their ownership to the Instagram Security team or fill out a support form, which takes a very long time.
To make the process easier, the feature, which is now being tested in the trial, will ask the account owner to enter the required information to authenticate their claim. After that, a 6-digit code will be sent to their number or email ID.
The hackers will have a difficult time logging in from an unauthorized device into the account. This feature will help recover many reports that have had their details changed, like their number or email ID.
However, it is uncertain at this point when the safety feature will be rolled out for all Android users as well as iOS users.
