International cricket council (ICC) nominated Fatima Sana for the July Women’s Player of the Month award on Sunday. Fatima is one of the youngest and talented Pakistani cricketers nominated for her fantastic performance in the ODI against West Indies, held In July.

Alongside Fatima Sana, Hayley Matthews and Stephanie Taylor are sharing the nominee category from West Indies. Sana made her ODI debut against South Africa in May 2019.

She has played in 10 ODIs and 7 T20Is for Pakistan’s women’s cricket team. However, her ODI achievements against West Indies include 28 runs off 19 balls in the fifth ODI and a consecutive five-wicket haul in the fifth and final match of the series. She was also named the player of the match for her performance.
Player Of The Month AwardsÂ
ICC has initiated a series of awards for best players of the month to recognize the stellar performances showcased by the cricketers. Nominees are shortlisted based on their performance for each academic calendar. The shortlisted players then get the votes from the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the world.
ICC will announce the winner on the second Monday of each month.

ICC Statement
In a press release, ICC stated:
“Fatima Sana was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the ODI series against the West Indies. She was also a joint-leader for her side in the T20I series between the sides.”
The statement further added:
“A maiden five-wicket haul from Fatima Sana helped Pakistan defeat West Indies by 22 runs via the DLS method in the fifth ODI of the series. In the same game, with four overs remaining in a shortened innings due to a delayed start, Sana scored an unbeaten 28 off 19 balls, which included four boundaries.”
