In the world of cricket, where speedsters are celebrated as game-changers, the story of Ihsanullah is both inspiring and heartbreaking. The young pacer, who burst onto the scene with a stellar performance in PSL 2023, now faces an uncertain future.
The emerging star of the Multan Sultans turned heads last season with his fiery pace, regularly clocking 150 kmph and picking up 22 wickets. However, a recent interview with the teamโs owner, Ali Jahangir Tareen, has shed light on the challenges Ihsanullah is battling.
The Rise of a Speed Demon
Ihsanullah was a revelation during PSL 2023. His raw pace and unerring accuracy made batters look clueless, and fans quickly rallied behind him as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket. His performance earned him a spot in the national team, where he donned the green jersey in one ODI and four T20Is.
But just as his career was taking off, an elbow injury sidelined him after the home ODI series against New Zealand in April 2023. What followed was a rollercoaster of emotions for the young pacer.

Ali Tareenโs Shocking Revelation
In a candid conversation, Ali Tareen revealed that Ihsanullah underwent surgery on his right elbow, but the outcome wasnโt what anyone had hoped for. The surgery, meant to fix the issue, uncovered even bigger problems.
โItโs a very sad development,โ Ali said. โWe consulted a top surgeon who gave us bad news. He said, โI can do the surgery, but because of so much scarring from his previous botched surgery, his arm will never become perfectly straight.โโ
Aliโs disappointment was evident as he described how Ihsanullahโs previous surgical mishap might have permanently affected his bowling. โHe will never be able to bowl in the same way,โ Ali lamented.

Ihsanullahโs return to competitive cricket during the Champions T20 Cup showed glimpses of his talent. However, his pace was noticeably lower. He bowled at around 130-135 kmph, a far cry from the fiery 155 kmph that once defined him.
โHe was our 155 kmph bowler,โ Ali added. โItโs unfortunate that one mistake has impacted a young playerโs career this way.โ
Despite these setbacks, Ihsanullah hasnโt given up. His two wickets in four matches during the Champions T20 Cup signal his determination to keep fighting. While he may not reach the blistering speeds of his early days, his cricketing journey is far from over. For fans, the hope is that Ihsanullah can adapt and reinvent himself.
