IKEA is collaborating with LA-based fashion designer Chris Stamp of streetwear brand Stampd on a limited-edition, street-style-themed collection that will hit stores in May.
The furniture brand is targeting young, aesthetically-conscious consumers with its new SPĂ„NST collection, which offers storage solutions that showcase stylish duds, in addition to a skateboard — IKEA’s first ever — that sells for $89.99.
Monochrome colors, graphic elements, and a sports theme characterize much of the collection, which includes a rack that holds both skateboards and shoes, an all-black basketball and hoop, black lacquered armchairs, a hat, and clear plastic stackable shoe boxes.
“As a fashion designer, I know that people want to show other people their clothes, shoes, and accessories,” says Stamp. “Why spend a lot on a pair of sneakers and hide them in the closet?”
There’s also a minimalist clothes rack, a black duffel bag, an LED light stick said to be Stamp’s favorite product of the collection, and a tabletop with DJ-ing among its suggested uses.
Black hoodies, T-shirts, a laundry bag, gray cushion covers and a water bottle are among other offerings in the sleek, sporty line.
SPĂ„NST launched this week at IKEA’s Burbank location and will roll out to stores globally next month.
