Local police in Pune have initiated an inquiry after a Rs20 Pakistani currency note was discovered near a service lift at the Manas Lake Housing Society in Bhukum village, located in the Pune district of India.
The note was found by Sahdev Yadav, the chairman of the residential society, who promptly reported it to the authorities. Residents handed over the note to officials at the Bavdhan police station, which falls under the Pimpri Chinchwad police jurisdiction. The housing society is situated approximately 18 kilometres from the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla.

Following the discovery, the in-charge of Bavdhan police station, Anil Vibhute, confirmed that an inquiry had been launched. โAfter finding the note, the residents of the society approached the police station and submitted it with an application requesting an investigation. We have begun our inquiry, and the next steps will be determined based on our findings,โ he stated.
The housing society consists of 84 flats and has a CCTV camera installed next to the lift where the note was found. However, authorities revealed that the camera has been non-functional since 24th November. Police will now review additional CCTV footage from the surrounding area and take statements from local residents as part of the investigation.
As of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in connection with the incident.
