Internet Outages Cost IT Industry $910K Per Hour: P@SHA

Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman of P@SHA, emphasized, “An hour of internet disruption costs the IT industry $910,000.” He added that 99% of IT companies have faced disruptions recently. “After P@SHA raised the issue, PTA resolved the internet problems within hours,” Syed noted. PTA has also created a dedicated cell to address these concerns.

Syed expressed concerns about blocking VPNs under PECA laws. He said, “Under PECA laws, VPNs cannot be blocked.” P@SHA proposed creating local VPN providers and registering them domestically. Syed highlighted the IT sector’s economic impact, “Investing one dollar in IT generates $49 for the government.” He urged the government to invest more to help Pakistan’s IT sector compete globally.
