ChatGPT For Amazon
The AI software has the potential to generate blocks of text from simple prompts. Brett Schickler, a salesman in Rochester, New York has used ChatGPT to pen a 30-page illustrated children’s e-book The Wise Little Squirrel: A Tale of Saving and Investing. “The idea of writing a book finally seemed possible, I thought I can do this.” Says Brett Schickler.
Reuters has noted that Amazonโs e-book store features at least 200 titles which are openly listing ChatGPT as an author or co-author. The categories include space-inspired poetry, childrenโs novels about penny-pinching forest animals, and how-to tutorials on using ChatGPT to supposedly improve oneโs dating life.
However, with the controversial nature of ChatGPT many authors’ have not disclosed the use of the bot. Meanwhile, it is nearly impossible to get a full accounting of how many e-books may be written by AI.
While showing her concerns about using AI bots to publish books Mary Rasenberger, executive director of the Author’s Guild says,
“This is something we need to be worried about. These books will flood the market and a lot of authors are going to be out of work”.
โThere needs to be transparency from the authors and the platforms about how these books are created or youโre going to end up with a lot of low-quality books,โ she added.
