Karachi Airport authorities are speeding up the construction of an upgraded runway, 07L, which will be classified as category 4F. This ongoing project involves demolishing the old runway to make way for the new one, with construction expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The upgrade will enable the airport to accommodate the world’s largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, which can carry up to 600 passengers. Several international airlines, including Emirates, have already shown interest in utilising the new runway for their large aircraft.
The project marks a significant step forward for Karachi Airport in expanding its capacity and handling long-distance flights, positioning Karachi as a major international aviation hub.
