Karachi Shivers on the Coldest Night of the Season

It was a frigid night for Karachi, as the city recorded its coldest night of the season. The temperatures went down to single digits on Tuesday early morning. The cold spell brought chilly winds and temperatures lower than usual, leaving the residents of Karachi bundled up. People were seen all wrapped up in various garments trying to shield themselves from the effects of the severe blow.

Temperatures Drop Across Karachi

The lowest temperature that has been recorded in the city is eight degrees Celsius, which is one degree less than yesterday’s mark. At Jinnah Terminal, temperatures plunged to 6.2ยฐC. Gulistan-e-Jauhar noted 7.5ยฐC while Mauripur and Bin Qasim stations reported temperatures of 10ยฐC and 11ยฐC respectively.

Chilly Wind Makes it Feel Colder

Chilly winds blowing from Balochistan intensified the cold. The cold became biting even when wind speeds were moderate, as cold winds has already chilled air and made the city feel much colder. This made the perceived temperature fall 2 to 4 degrees below the actual readings.

Rural Sindh Experiences Freezing Temperatures

The town of Mithi in rural Sindh experienced bleak conditions due to temperatures plunging to zero. This was among the coldest recordings in the region.

The current cold wave has engulfed Karachi and the adjoining areas. The residents need to brace themselves for more chilly mornings and cold nights in the next few days.
