Amina Urooj appeared in court alongside her lawyer as the case was heard by Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh. The court has called for further medical examinations, including an ultrasound and X-ray report, to be submitted by August 27. Dr. Faraz, representing the Punjab Government, appeared with the medical report which was officially submitted by the Additional Advocate General Punjab.
Details of Torture Confirmed in the Medical Report
The medical report reveals evidence of torture on 19 different parts of Amina Urooj’s body. It also indicated that two additional tests were necessary to further assess her condition. According to the report, signs of violence were present on her body before May 31. The report specifically mentioned that Amina Urooj had been kicked in the stomach, causing her to bleed due to the severity of the assault.
Allegations of Police Torture
The petition, filed by Amina Urooj’s mother, Zeenat Bibi, claims that Amina was subjected to severe physical and mental torture during her time in police custody. The petition also asserts that Amina is now suffering from both internal and external injuries as a result of this abuse. When Zeenat Bibi attempted to visit her daughter in jail, she was informed that Amina had been taken to the hospital. It was later revealed that she had been transferred to the investigating officer of the organized Crime Unit.
