If there is one thing Karachi could use more of, it is parks.
More parks mean more trees and more fun, which means a better climate and better ways to spend your leisure time.
So there’s good news for the fresh air and park lovers of Karachi:
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation plans to start renovation work at the Ahmed Ali Park (popularly known as the Kidney Hill Park), after retrieving 20 acres of encroached land.
Which means, you will all soon have an all new recreational park to walk, play, and just breathe in in Bahadurabad near the Karachi Cooperative Housing Society.
Here’s what Bashir Siddiqui, KMC Anti-Encroachment Department Senior Director, told SAMAA Digital that the Supreme Court:
Around 20 acres of the park’s land was encroached by the Kokan Cooperative Housing Society. It claimed that the land belonged to the society. They moved the Sindh High Court on the matter,”
The KMC has demolished 17 bungalows constructed on the park’s premises. Three of them were under construction.
“If the Supreme Court did not intervene, the entire park would have been converted into a residential scheme,”
Over 3,000 saplings of different species will be planted at different parts of the park. The park will also have a jogging track and sewerage treatment plants.
