โ€œKamal and I call getting into the character a process of discovery; we spoke at length about who he is not, rather than who he is, there was a lot of inspection and thinking. It took a lot of time,โ€ said the lead actor, Ahmed Ali Akbar while speaking to the audience.

Tasveer is lauded to be one of USA’s largest South Asian film festivals, declaring to have a “mission is to engage and educate the community through thought-provoking films, stories, and issues from South Asia & its diaspora”.

Farah Nousheen and Rita Meher founded Tasveer in March 2002 in Seattle, soon after 9/11. Troubled by the stereotyped and highly prejudicial images of South Asians depicted in the mainstream media at that time, they sought to dispel those mischaracterizations by giving South Asians a chance to speak for themselves.

If you havenโ€™t watched the critically acclaimed Karachi-based crime thriller Laal Kabootar and are unsure what the hype is all about, you have another chance to watch the film on the big screen.

Actor Mansha Pasha made the announcement on her Twitter on Tuesday:

โ€œDue to popular demand, Laal Kabootar is back in cinemas from Oct 11!โ€
