Lahore Traffic Police has launched a new plan to improve public services and provide better working conditions for traffic wardens. As the first step, they have set up modern traffic kiosks at busy intersections across the city.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr Athar Waheed stated that they installed the first kiosk at Afshan Chowk on Mall Road. This kiosk now offers key services, including issuing motorbike licences and collecting driving licences. “All traffic-related services will be accessible at these kiosks, making the system more citizen-friendly,” said Dr Waheed.
He explained that the goal is to make traffic services more accessible while also shielding on-duty wardens from extreme weather. The kiosks feature air conditioning, drinking water, and rest areas to support wardens in staying safe and comfortable while working.

The team has also equipped each kiosk with a loudspeaker system for making traffic announcements. Traffic wardens will work in three shifts to keep services available 24/7.
Dr Waheed added that the department drew inspiration for this project from traffic systems in developed countries. They plan to expand the kiosks gradually throughout Lahore. After Afshan Chowk, the next locations include Mall Road, Gulberg, and Iqbal Town.
SP Headquarters, Mansoor-ul-Hassan, is overseeing the project under the Chief Minister of Punjab’s directives.
This initiative by Lahore Traffic Police aims to provide faster services to citizens and help wardens carry out their duties more efficiently and safely.
