Natural beauty brand Lush Cosmetics has established itself as a go-to for fizzy bath bombs and plant-based shower gels — but now the label is branching out into foundation.
The company’s “Lush Labs” division is launching a 40-shade strong “Slap Stick” foundation range Friday, it has announced. The Slap Sticks, which will come with three different undertone hues, offer medium buildable coverage and contain 45% Indonesian coconut oil to hydrate and soften the skin with every application.
The foundation’s vegan formula also includes Peruvian jojoba oil, which ensures that the color pigment blends smoothly, argan oil for an extra dose of moisture, and a combination of candelilla, sunflower and Turkish rose waxes. Ten percent of the profits from the purchase of the coconut oil will be donated to a non-profit organization funding literacy classes and a dentist on the Indonesian island of Nias.
Slap Sticks also have the advantage of not relying on excessive packaging; a peelable wax skin means the foundation can be applied directly to the skin, or by using a brush or fingers. “Making foundation, a staple in many people’s daily routine, solid, is a major leap forward to reducing plastic packaging without compromising on quality or effect,” says Rowena Bird, Lush Co-founder and Product Inventor.
For now, the limited-edition Slap Sticks will be available to purchase online from Lush Labs for one month only, and will be available in 18 countries not including the US.
