Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a target to provide training and job placement to 100,000 youth in Punjab. She directed officials to create a plan to send skilled manpower abroad and prioritise business cards and loans for skilled individuals. A ‘Skills on Wheels’ project will be launched for youth in remote areas with private sector collaboration.
In the first phase, 5,000 youth will receive call center training. After six weeks, they will be eligible for jobs paying around Rs100,000 per month. Officials also reviewed a proposal to introduce a skills card. The Punjab government has already completed international IT certification for 4,000 youth under the CM Skilled Punjab Initiative, with plans to increase it to 10,000.

The government is also supporting women’s skill development. A total of 480 women will be trained at the Garment Training Institute in the Quaid-i-Azam Business Park. They will receive a Rs20,000 stipend and a pick-and-drop facility. Job placement in large textile groups is also included in the programme. Meanwhile, 1,600 transgender persons have completed skills training, receiving Rs8,000 per month. A free six-month hospitality training programme will be introduced in collaboration with a British institution.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also ordered the immediate withdrawal of the TDCP double-decker bus fare hike. The fare for the Sightseeing Lahore Bus Service had increased from Rs200 to Rs500, while corporate bookings were set to rise from Rs5,000 to Rs20,000. She expressed displeasure over the decision and directed officials to reverse the hike, stating that the service should remain affordable to promote tourism in Lahore.
