Michelle Trachtenberg has died at the age of 39.
The NYPD confirmed that officers responded to a 911 call at 1 Columbus Place in New York City around 8:00 a.m. on February 26 about Michelle. They found Trachtenberg unconscious and unresponsive, and EMS pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities stated that no criminal activity is suspected, though the investigation remains ongoing. The New York City Medical Examiner has not yet released further details.
Trachtenberg was best known for her roles as Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl and Dawn Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She started her career in commercials before landing roles on The Adventures of Pete & Pete and All My Children. Her breakout performance came in 1996 as the lead in Harriet the Spy. Over the years, she starred in films like EuroTrip, 17 Again and Ice Princess. Her final credited role was in 2023, reprising Georgina Sparks in the Gossip Girl reboot on Max.

This year leading up to her death, fans expressed concern over her changing appearance. Trachtenberg addressed the speculation head-on, dismissing rumours about her health and plastic surgery. “I am happy and healthy. Check yourself, haters,” she wrote in a candid Instagram post.
Her last Instagram post shared just seven days ago, featured a throwback photo where she joked about wanting to look like a “naughty #tinkerbell.”
Trachtenberg’s death marks a heartbreaking loss for fans and the entertainment world, as she leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and iconic characters.
