Former captain Misbah-ul-Haq has raised concerns over Islamabad United’s bowling tactics, particularly regarding the utilization of their resources during the ongoing PSL 9.
Despite winning two out of their five matches, Islamabad United’s performance has been marred by tactical loopholes that have cost them crucial games.
In their recent encounter against Karachi Kings, Islamabad struggled to contain the opposition who managed to score 164 runs comfortably on a slow pitch.
Misbah-ul-Haq pointed out that skipper Shadab Khan did not bowl his full quota of overs, while Agha Salman was underutilized. In the same way, Shadab Khan is not using Naseem Shah at his full potential.
“They are not utilizing their resources properly in the bowling department. Shadab doesn’t know where and how to use Naseem,” Misbah commented on a local sports channel.
He gave the last over to youngster [Hunain Shah] which went for plenty.”
Misbah emphasized that such decisions could prove detrimental in crucial moments of the game, highlighting the importance of strategic planning and resource management.
“At one stage, 140 was looking par but still they managed to score 165 which was covered by their openers in batting but these things can haunt Islamabad United in important matches,” he expressed.
Despite Islamabad United’s struggles, credit must be given to the opening pair of Colin Munro and Alex Hales, whose exceptional batting performance propelled the team to victory against Karachi Kings. The duo’s 108-run partnership off 69 balls set the tone for Islamabad’s successful chase.
