To get tattoos or not has been a topic of debate from religious aspects for ages. The issue was discussed in the recent episode of Nadir Ali’s podcast as he hosted Mufti Tariq Masood. In the episode the scholar shed light on getting irreversible body modifications and how they hinder the religious offerings.

Nadir Ali asked the scholar, whether Islam permits getting tattoos or irreversible body modifications given that a Muslim has to pray with them.

In response to the query Mufti Masood clearly stated that it is prohibited to get tattoos and in religion, it has been mentioned time and again that people who get these changes done to themselves should seek forgiveness from Allah.

‘There is no bigger change than altering what God has created for you. It is prohibited and if someone has gotten something done which cannot be removed, then there is no other option than to seek for forgiveness.’

In another question, Nadir Ali also asked the scholar the same question from a non-Muslim perspective or those who have reverted to Islam.

‘Mufti Masood also mentioned that if someone has converted to Islam there is no other way than to seek forgiveness from Allah since there is nothing that can be done.’
