Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has introduced its most advanced chatbot, Grok 3. They are positioning it as a direct competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. During the demonstration of Grok 3, Musk stated that it offers greater capabilities compared to its predecessor, Grok 2. The rollout begins today, with Premium Plus subscribers on X being the first to gain access. “All you need to know to understand which company will win a technology competition is look at the first and second derivatives of the rate of innovation,” Musk wrote on X.
Users interested in early access can opt for the Premium Plus subscription. Moreover, xAI is introducing a new subscription tier called Super Grok, designed for dedicated users seeking the most advanced features and early updates. This plan will be available both on the Grok app and through the newly launched website, grok.com.

According to xAI researchers, Grok 3 surpasses other AI models in terms of performance. Even its smaller variant, Grok 3 Mini, is proving to be highly competitive at the top level. “At xAI, we believe that having the best pre-training model is not enough to create the best AI. The best AI needs to think like a human. If you’re using Grok 3, you may notice improvements almost every day because we are constantly working on enhancing the model. In fact, you might even see changes within 24 hours,” they said.
The xAI team emphasised the importance of considering multiple solutions, self-criticism, verification, backtracking and applying first-principles thinking in AI development. “You need to consider all possible solutions, self-critique, verify them, backtrack and think from first principles. This is a crucial skill. We believe that by taking the best pre-trained model and further training it with reinforcement learning, we can enhance its reasoning abilities. This allows the model to improve significantly and scale, not just during training but also during testing,” the xAI team said.
