All across the globe, serious safety measures are being taken to stop the spread of coronavirus pandemic. As the numbers of cases are increasing on a daily basis, countries are taking preventing measures and announcing lockdowns.
Just like so, Pakistan is also taking such steps to help its people. From closing down schools, offices, restaurants and all other public places, people have now started taking this disease seriously.
NADRA takes safety measures
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has suspended the renewal process of national identity cards until further notice.
According to sources, it is said that 90,000 people visit NADRA offices daily for the purpose of card renewal out of which, 50,000 people have expired CNICs. The reported number means that it would only increase the risk of the spread of coronavirus.
Moreover, considering the on-going situation, NADRA has also decided to extend the expiration dates of CNIC that are expiring between September 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. As per the changes and notification, the new expiration date of these cards will now be July 1, 2020.
This is indeed a good step taken by NADRA. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments below.
