Former Pakistani cricketer Nasir Jamshed has finally broken his silence, issuing a heartfelt apology for his involvement in the spot-fixing controversy that marred his cricketing legacy.
Jamshed shared a video on social media capturing a tender moment of him bowling to his daughter during a practice session.
Alongside the video, he penned a deeply remorseful message, acknowledging the gravity of his actions and expressing profound regret. “I won’t forgive myself for what I did with my career,” he confessed.
In a pledge to make amends, Nasir Jamshed vowed to channel his cricketing prowess into nurturing his daughter’s talent, affirming, “I am truly sorry, but I will try to pass my talent on to my daughter and give her the best chance.”
Jamshed’s fall from grace stemmed from his involvement in spot-fixing scandals during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
His role as the central figure in the 2017 PSL scandal led to severe repercussions, including a ten-year ban imposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in August 2018.
Additionally, he served a 17-month jail sentence in the UK after being convicted of his part in a spot-fixing conspiracy in February 2020.
The opening batter’s international career, which spanned from 2008 to 2015, saw him represent Pakistan in two Test matches, 48 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 18 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
Notably, Jamshed’s explosive batting prowess was on full display during Pakistan’s triumphant series against India in 2013.
Emerging as the leading run-scorer in the three-match ODI series, he amassed an impressive 241 runs, including two centuries, solidifying his reputation as a formidable force at the top of the order.
