Nimra Khan, will take on the role of the main character who wears a hijab in the upcoming television series “Umm-e-Ayesha” on Geo Entertainment. The show is directed by Saleem Ghanchi and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi.
In a recent interview, Khan revealed that the series, scheduled for release during Ramadan, revolves around the challenges faced by a hijab-wearing woman. These challenges include difficulties in securing employment due to her attire and encountering discrimination in the matchmaking process known as “rishta.”
The cast meanwhile also shared a cute behind the scenes video from the set of their upcoming drama on Geo Tv.

‘Umm-e-Ayesha’ follows the story of a girl raised in a middle-class family who was urged by her mother to cover her head with a dupatta. However, as she delves deeper into Islam, she decides to wear the hijab because she believes it is more meaningful than using a dupatta for covering. Khan elaborated that her character makes a commitment to never appear before non-blood-related men, known as “na mehram,” without her hijab.
While talking about her experience about portraying a Hijabi girl, Khan expressed that her overall experience exceeded her expectations. While highlighting the supportive cast and positive atmosphere on set. She further explained her role being challenging, having to balance wearing a hijab while also driving a scooty, but emphasized that it conveyed a positive message overall.
