The deal negotiations were kept under wraps to  circumvent any potential obstacles, according to inside sources. Pervaiz George, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority said that he was not able to deny or confirm any of it as he needed time to further comment on the development.

Population Growth Exceeds Pakistani Capital’s Healthcare Capacity

Population-capacity

With a dearth of the public healthcare system in place, hospitals including Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) situated in the capital city, Islamabad is facing pressure from the influx of patients originating from the nearby areas, lacking such facilities.

The increasing number of patients has led to a downturn in the quality of the facilities and cure being provided at the institute. The management of the hospital was quick to hold the government responsible given the lack of funding.

Population-capacity

The Vice Chancellor at PIMS and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) said that they were allotted almost 25 percent less as compared to what they had demanded from the ministry of finance. He also requested to try and meet the rising number of patients. Intensive capital is required to meet the need of building 4 more hospitals.

Valentine’s Day Ban Imposed in Islamabad!

He said,“In the last 30 years, no new hospital has been established to cater the needs of the growing population of Islamabad which has increased to four times its original size, while referral cases have also multiplied in the absence of a centralised referral system and due to the [good] reputation of PIMS.”

Other than these, the hospital is also experiencing a shortage of support staff, nurses, paramedics and teachers since it also is a teaching hospital.

“We will have to devise short, medium and long-term plans to meet the growing needs of the healthcare facilities.”

“The solutions to curb petty issues need to be dealt with by the next year whereas the solutions for the longer term can be enforced in a few years’ time”, said Dr Akram.

Pakistan World T20 Squad Reconsidered After Players’ Performance In PSL 2016

wt20-squad

After seeing the poor performance of Ahmad Shehzad and Umar Gul in ODIs and T20 cricket matches, Pakistan team selectors are rethinking the 15-man squad for Pakistan Super League 2016 that is to be held in India from March 8th to April 3rd, 2016.

According to the reports, International Cricket Council (ICC) had earlier set February 8th as the final date to release names of the final players who will be a part of the 15-man squad for PSL 2016.

Later on Monday it was revealed that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had asked the governing body for more time.

Meanwhile, a source in the ICC confirmed to a local news channel that ICC has granted PCB 2 more days to finalize the selection of the players. As for now, the PCB has to submit a finalized decision of the 15-man squad team till February 10th.

PSL 2016 Can Benefit Young Pakistani Cricketers

The official while speaking to a local news channel said, “Pakistan had approached us with a request to grant a few more days to name their World T20 squad. They have now been given a new deadline which is February 10th.”

Further reports regarding the matter revealed that the Pakistan selection committee has already made their decision, but they wanted to oversee the performances of Shehzad and Gul at the PSL before naming the 15-man squad.

Ahmed Shehzad in three of his recent T20 matches against New Zealand’s player Kane Williamson just scored 18, 9, and 8 respectively.

Shehzad’s Quetta teammate Gul, who was hammered in New Zealand after making a comeback to the Pakistan side following a lengthy lay-off due to injury, has had a mixed PSL campaign. He has figures of 1/30, 0/41 and 2/19 in the three matches who has played so far.

Virat Kohli Unfollows Anushka Sharma – Officially Broken Up!

Rumor has it, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has ended his three-year relationship with actress Anushka Sharma after she declined his marriage proposal, saying that she wants to currently focus on her career.

Anushka and Virat’s social media behavior gave the hint that all was not hunky dory in the relationship. The cricketer has unfollowed Anushka on all social media platforms – sending a message to the world.

She, however, continues to feature in his 9.24 million-strong followers’ list.

virat-kohli

Marriage was the point of disagreement between the couple with Virat keen on taking the relationship to the next level. While Anushka is busy with her work, Virat is clearly not over her – not yet. In fact Virat is willing to give their relationship another chance and win back Anushka.

It is unlikely that both Anushka and Virat will come out in the open and make an official statement, sources close to the couple reveal to the website that they have actually ended their relationship.

Clearly, the year 2016 if turning out to be a jinx as far as Bollywood relationships are concerned.

Though actresses dating cricketers is not new, Vir-Ushka became one of the most talked about couples in recent times. They first met in 2013 while shooting for a commercial and soon rumours of them being a couple started doing the rounds.

They stuck to the ‘good friends’ stance until a year ago. In February 2014, Anushka-Virat were spotted walking hand-in-hand in Auckland where India was playing against New Zealand.

Anushka Sharma’s Bold Look on Femina India’s 56th Anniversary Cover

Later that year, the actress admitted to dating the young Test captain. Ever since, the duo has been spotted together, holidaying or visiting each other’s houses. Anushka even faced the wrath of Indian cricket fans and was blamed for Virat’s dismal batting performance during the 2015 World Cup semi-final match.

Anushka’s next release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is with her ‘Bombay Velvet’ co-star Ranbir Kapoor and is also busy shooting for ‘Sultan’ opposite Salman Khan.

27 Pictures That Prove Baluchistan is Beyond Beautiful!

Balochistan-lead

What do you think of when you hear Balochistan? A desert area, a province that never seems to hold any importance? Do you think of beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, mud volcanoes, the gorgeous Hanna Lake near Quetta? No, of course not.

A much-neglected province of our country, Balochistan is the largest province in terms of area but never seems to hold much weight-age for us in terms of tourism or beauty. Only recently, it has captured Pakistan’s attention for the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) leading to the Gwadar Port.

Balochistan is rich in beauty with breathtaking waterfalls, fruit tress and deep valleys. The land is oozing with exotic locations in every corner.

Here’s a taste of the unseen beauty of Balochistan. Take a look at these amazing pictures which show that Balochistan is indeed beautiful:

Twitter To Introduce Facebook-Style Timeline?

Twitter

Reports of a new algorithm reordering users’ timelines and an end to the 140-character limit came in for some very vocal criticism on Twitter this weekend, as users jumped on the #RIPTwitter hashtag to vent their fury. The social network’s co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey took to the platform in an attempt to calm the burning rage by reassuring users about future changes.

At the end of last week, Buzzfeed and other sites reported that Twitter was working on a new algorithm to change the order of tweets in users’ timelines. These would no longer simply be arranged chronologically, but would instead be based on an algorithm’s calculation of what members might want to see, creating an “intelligent” Facebook-style timeline over which users would have little control.

twitter's new homepage

In a series of tweets, Jack Dorsey tried to calm outraged users, explaining that Twitter is, and will always remain, a live tool and a source of real-time information. Instead of releasing an overarching new algorithm, Twitter is instead likely to extend its “while you were away” function, which gives users a recap of highlights since their last connection.

Twitter’s Top Management Being Re-Arranged Confirms CEO Jack Dorsey

While the arrival of a new timeline hasn’t been formally denied, changes are more likely to bring a handful of noteworthy tweets to the forefront rather than reorganizing the entire timeline. Plus, The Verge reports that any such function will take the form of an option that can be switched off by users at any time.

As for the rumors of Twitter upping its famous character limit from 140 to 10,000, it seems that nothing has been decided yet. While Jack Dorsey admits that some adjustments are due soon, any changes are expected to remain limited and, above all, easily adjustable for users of the platform.

After live streaming (Periscope) and the arrival of Twitter polls in 2015, there are no doubt plenty of new features in the pipeline for 2016, as while Twitter boasts a huge number of users, the platform struggles to move forward and, more importantly, to monetize its concept. In the meantime, Twitter already has a new homepage showing users — or surfers who don’t necessarily want to sign up — an overview the most popular tweets of the moment in a selection of categories (entertainment, culture, lifestyle, etc.).

ICC World T20 2016: Smith Replaces Finch For Australian Captaincy

ICC-World-T20-2016

Australian selectors Tuesday dumped Aaron Finch as captain in favour of Steve Smith for the World Twenty20 which begins next month in India while Peter Nevill replaces Matthew Wade as wicketkeeper.

Finch has been skipper since October 2014 but with Smith already captain of both the Test and one-day teams, national selector Rod Marsh said it was the right time for him to now take over in the shorter format.

“Aaron Finch has done a very good job captaining Australia in T20 cricket. He will have benefited enormously from the leadership opportunity and will remain a highly-respected leader within the Australian squad,” said Marsh.

“However since he became T20 captain, there has been a broader leadership transition in Test and one-day international cricket with Michael Clarke retiring and Steve Smith assuming the captaincy in Test and one-day cricket.

“We think now is the right time for Steve to lead Australia in all three forms of the game as it offers us important continuity, not only ahead of the World T20, but beyond that tournament as well.”

IPL 2016 Players’ Auction: Shane Watson Grabs Highest Bid

The World T20 gets underway on March 8 with Australia, who have never won the tournament, opening their campaign on March 18 against New Zealand in Dharamsala.

Smith said he was looking forward to the new challenge.

“It’s a fast-paced game, you have to really think on your feet, be ahead of the game,” he said of captaining a T20 team.

“The World Cup is going to be a big challenge for us. It is one of the trophies that has eluded this side.

“We’re going to be playing in different conditions where we haven’t had a lot of success. It’s going to be a hard tour but I’m really looking forward to it.”

A key surprise in the 15-man squad was the inclusion of Nevill, who is yet to play limited-overs cricket for Australia, but he was preferred to Wade whose recent form with the gloves and bat prompted the change.

“We feel our batting depth in this squad is sufficient enough that we can have a specialist wicket-keeper in the squad,” said Marsh.

“We want Australia‘s best wicket-keeper playing in this tournament and we consider Peter Nevill to be the best in the country right now.”

Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa, both yet to play T20 cricket for Australia, claimed the spin spots ahead of Test stalwart Nathan Lyon and Cameron Boyce.

They will be complemented by the part-time off-spin of Glenn Maxwell while Josh Hazlewood spearheads the attack.

Finch (hamstring), Nathan Coulter-Nile (shoulder) and James Faulkner (hamstring) were all named in the squad subject to proving their fitness.

“Overall, we believe the squad we have selected is well-balanced and has the experience and talent required to be successful in India and help us win theWorld T20 title for the first time,” said Marsh.

“We were able to look at a number of players during the Big Bash League and the recent T20 international series against India and have selected the best short-form players available for the conditions we will encounter.”

Australian squad: Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Shane Watson, Steve Smith(capt), Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Marsh, James Faulkner, John Hastings, Peter Nevill, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Aaron Finch, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye.

ICC World Twenty20 Matches To Be Held On Neutral Venue

World-T20

Pakistan‘s cricket chief Monday said a proposal was given to play their WorldTwenty20 matches on neutral venues next month in the event that Islamabad does not allow the team to tour India.

India host the ICC World Twenty20 from March 8 to April 3 but Pakistan‘s participation is subject to government clearance as there are specific threats that Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan said.

“We have told the ICC (International Cricket Council) now and before as well, the decision (to tour India) is with the government and it will consider if there is a specific Pakistan oriented security threat,” Khan told media.

Khan said a proposal was given during the ICC Board meeting in Dubai last week.

“Someone in the ICC meeting said that if there are doubts over extremists (atPakistan matches) we are ready to play at neutral venues in case our government does not give the permission to tour India,” said Khan.

PSL T20 2016: Lahore Qalandars beat Quetta Gladiators by 63 runs

Neighbours Pakistan and India share a volatile relationship. There was a thaw recently as Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif briefly met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of a climate change meeting in Paris late last year.

That was followed by a surprise visit by Modi to Lahore to attend Sharif’s birthday and a family gathering.

But last month’s attacks on an Indian air base in Pathankot derailed the peace process leading to the cancellation of talks between the foreign secretaries.

Khan said there have been incidents recently which suggested that there are indeed Pakistan-specific threats.

“They are not general threats, like Australia had in Bangladesh and they did not send their team for the Under-19 World Cup,” Khan said.

Australia withdrew from the January-February Junior World Cup over security fears.

“PCB could hold a meeting with the BCCI officials in Mumbai (the BCCI office was the scene of protests by Shiv Sena activists in October 2015), Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali’s concerts could not be staged twice over threats and before that a book launch for Khursheed Kasuri (the former Pakistani foreign secretary) was disturbed,” said Khan of the recent events in India last year.

Khan said a 500-plus Pakistan contingent featuring in the South Asian Federation (SA) Games in Guwahati was different from a cricketing event.

“There are more chances of attacks on cricketers than on swimmers and players of other games.”

“If the decision is negative then maybe the ICC will say that our matches should be held on neutral venues in Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates.”

Valentine’s Day Ban Imposed in Islamabad!

A ban has been imposed on the celebration of Valentine’s Day on 14th February 2016 in Islamabad. This is not the first time such a band has been imposed.

https://twitter.com/JaagAlerts/status/696673607079104512/photo/1

In 2014, there were clashes at a university in Peshawar over Valentine’s Day. Liberal students were celebrating with red balloons and cake while another group felt such a show was un-Islamic.

Dozens of students threw rocks in the scuffle, leading to gunshots being fired by both sides and rooms in a student dormitory being set on fire. Three students were injured and stones were thrown at police.

Along with Pakistan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Iran and India also do not celebrate 14th February Valentine’s Day.

NADRA Online CNIC Service Shut Down For Pakistani Citizens!

NADRA Pakistan

NADRA has shut down their CNIC delivery to the applicants’ doorstep, who were applying through the online portal. The service was established to facilitate citizens in acquiring their CNIC free of hassle.

The service may have shut down, without any prior notice but the Pakistanis abroad can still make use of the online application for their ID cards.

The delivery service which only lasted about six months has been closed abruptly and indefinitely. It is being surmised that the CNIC Issuance and Renewal Service which was launched in August last year was suspended given the overwhelming number of requests which they could not cater to and hence shut the service down.

The locals will now have to acquire their CNIC the old-fashioned way; in never ending time consuming long queues.

NADRA Launches Online CNIC Issuance & Renewal Facility

The service was able to garner positive reception not only locally but among Pakistanis overseas alike. With the technological advances, the convenience injected into the entire process proves to be beneficial for the institution and the common man simultaneously.

However, the citizens are hopeful that NADRA revives the service for local Pakistani citizens sooner rather than later.

PSL T20 2016: Lahore Qalandars beat Quetta Gladiators by 63 runs

PSL-2016-Lahore-Qalandars-vs-Quetta-Gladiators

UPDATE: Lahore Qalandars have defeated Quettta Gladiators comprehensively by 63 runs margin and registered their first victory of the league. What a superb innings played by Umar Akmal who scored a blistering 93 off just 40 balls hitting 8 sixes and guided his side to set 195 runs target.

Gladiators was totally outclassed by opponents in both batting and bowling and bowled out at 131 runs only in reply of huge target of 195. Zafar Gohar took four wickets giving away just 14 runs in his four overs.

In the 8th game of PSL T20 2016, the unbeaten Quetta Gladiators will be facing Lahore Qalandars who have not tasted victory yet. The confidence of triumphant Gladiators is soaring high after completing their victory hat-tricks against everyone’s favorite Peshawar Zalmi last night.

On the other hand, the disappointing thing about Lahore Qalandars is not their back to back defeats but giving up the fight. Let defeats aside, Qalandars have consistently underperforming and not doing justice to their potential on the ground. This might be because of their high dependance on Chris Gayle who is completely off color these days.

Lhr Qalandars Vs Quetta Gladiators

Can it be Gayle’s action today? The cricket lovers are definitely missing the sixes show. Now that fans have seen some nail-biting competitions yesterday, they will be expecting more thrill in the upcoming matches.

Currently, Lahore Qalandars are at the bottom of the points table while Gladiators are on ranking top.

IPL 2016 Players’ Auction: Shane Watson Grabs Highest Bid

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson received the highest bid of $1.4 million while banished England star Kevin Pietersen was sold to a new franchise at a glitzy Indian Premier League auction Saturday.

Watson lived up to his billing as one of the most sought-after players, being sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 95 million rupees ($1.4 million) at an auction attended by business big-wigs and former stars including ex-Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.

Thirty-four-year-old Watson, who remains one of the top players in Twenty20 cricket, was sold for more than four times his reserve price in the first round of marquee bidding in the southern Indian city of Bangalore.

“Incredibly excited to join (RCB). Can’t wait to meet up with my new team-mates in April,” Watson tweeted. Bangalore director Amrit Thomas said the addition of a utility player like Watson would make his team more competitive.

“We were looking for Shane Watson to get the balance right in the team and finally we got him at the bargain price,” Thomas was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.

Pietersen was bought for $515,000 by Rising Pune Supergiants, one of the two new teams in this year’s tournament that will be played from April 9 to May 29 across various Indian cities.

The out-of-favour batsman last played for England in 2014 but proved his worth in the recent Big Bash League with the Melbourne Stars.

The Gujarat Lions, based in the western city of Rajkot, are the other new IPL entrant following the two-year suspension of the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings over a corruption scandal.

India’s Yuvraj Singh was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for $1.03 million, a far cry from the $2.3 million that he commanded at last year’s auction.

South Africa’s Chris Morris was picked for a surprise $1 million Saturday, 14 times his base price after the Mumbai Indians and Knight Riders went neck and neck, only for the Delhi Daredevils to grab him in the end.

Aaron Finch, Australia’s injured T20 captain, and in-form New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill went unsold. South African speedster Dale Steyn, laid low by injuries, was the last man to be auctioned in the first round at $500,000.

Many of India’s uncapped players were sold much above their base prices, including left-arm spinner Pawan Negi who was snapped up for a whopping $1.2 million by Delhi.

The IPL, boasting an enviable brand value with Bollywood stars and big businesses as investors, has been dogged by controversies ever since its first edition in 2008.

The 2013 IPL season saw police launch legal proceedings against several officials and players from Rajasthan and Chennai franchises over a betting and spot-fixing scandal.

Both Chennai and Rajasthan are expected to return to the IPL after their bans end following the 2017 edition.

PIA Flight Operations Partially Resume!

PIA Smuggling

Two Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights with 725 Umrah Pilgrims arrived from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Pakistan on Sunday; this marks the partial resumption of the national flag carrier’s flight operations after being suspended for five days because of the ongoing employee protests against proposed airline privatization.

Meanwhile, a PIA plane with passengers reached Gilgit from Islamabad while a second flight left for Islamabad from Gilgit.

With no headway, protesting employees of PIA had announced another major rally in Karachi for Monday. The killing of two PIA staffers at a rally last Tuesday has aggravated the tensions between the government and the protesters, that led to a complete shutdown of the flight operations.

PIA Awards

After a five-day shutdown, more than 12 domestic and international flights took off on Sunday from Lahore, Islamabad and Gilgit.

10 flights also took off from Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport – majorly to bring back Pakistanis who were left in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after Umrah.

There were 2 flights that carried over 700 pilgrims from Jeddah to Islamabad while another flight took some pilgrims from Islamabad to Lahore. The other flights that took off from Islamabad were to Gilgit, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Lahore.

The Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE), has been heading the protests; the committe stated that the resumption of flight operations defied the rules of the civil aviation rules and promised to continue demonstrations till their demands were fulfilled by the government.

The government appreciated PIA staff’s commitment towards a national cause.

The administration of PIA has also guided the employees to report their respective responsibilities and duties at the Lahore airport in order to initiate operations from Punjab’s capital.

Daniyal Gilani, the spokesman for PIA told media regarding the loss of Rs2.5 billion due to the strike till date. He expressed optimisim regarding the flight operations from other airports of Pakistan soon.

He further added that the PIA staff who have returned to duty are being provided major security.

Adele is Officially The Best Selling Artist of 2015

Adele, who broke records with her song “Hello” and latest album “25,” was officially the biggest artist of 2015. Global music industry body IFPI said that the British ballad singer was the top-selling musical act last year based on worldwide sales of recordings.

Adele achieved the feat for the full year even though she did not release “25” until November 20 and declined to put the album on streaming sites, a rare move at a time when such on-demand services are growing rapidly. “25” — Adele’s third album which came more than four years after its predecessor — broke records for first-week sales in both the United States and Britain.

The first track “Hello,” an introspective ballad in line with Adele’s previous work, was the first single to be downloaded more than one million times in the United States in one week.

IFPI chief executive Frances Moore, in a statement issued from Europe on Monday, called “25” the “runaway global sensation of 2015” and said Adele’s achievement was “simply phenomenal.”

IFPI, which stands for the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, presents its annual award based on an artist’s physical and digital sales as well as streaming, although the group does not release figures.

Tracking service Nielsen SoundScan reported Sunday that “25” had sold eight million copies in the United States — becoming only the sixth album to reach that threshold since 2001, when iTunes and other digital music innovations shook up the industry.

Number two for 2015 was another British artist, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, whose career has soared in the past couple of years on the popularity of his ballad “Thinking Out Loud.”

US country-turned-pop superstar Taylor Swift, who won the IPFI Global Recording Artist award the previous year when she released her chart-topping album “1989,” fell to number three in 2015.

Rounding off the top five were Canadian pop celebrity Justin Bieber, who in November released his latest album “Purpose,” and British boy band One Direction who called a hiatus in late 2015 after a fifth album and departure of founding member Zayn Malik.
