Ali Zafar Opposite Alia Bhatt in New Bollywood Movie?

Rock star Ali Zafar is ready to romance Alia Bhatt in Gauri Shinde’s next film that also has Shahrukh Khan and Kunal Kapoor in its cast. Music, ISLU team endorsement for PSL and with the production of his first film, our rock star seems to be too packed with his schedule. But, his love and keen interest to work in Bollywood made him to carve out some space and time to include one more Bollywood flick in his basket in which he would be romancing the bubbly actress.

PSL 2016: Ali Zafar Endorses Islamabad United After Fawad Khan

This new movie is by the director of the Sridevi starrer ‘English Vinglish’. In the movie, SRK has an extended cameo role; whereas, Zafar and Kapoor will also play the role of Bhatt’s suitors at different points of time in the movie. From the look of it, one can say that it is too much male dominance in a single movie with only one young starlet. Only time will tell what the story entails for its viewers.

It is going to be Zafar’s ninth movie in Bollywood. He is definitely one actor who has developed great camaraderie and cemented his status quite strongly in Bollywood.

Consumers Turning Away From Tablets And Towards 2-in-1s

According to new data from Strategy Analytics, consumers have officially fallen out of love with tablets. Despite numerous reports in the lead up to the 2015 holiday season that put devices like the iPad very much at the top of people’s tech gift wish lists, the year ended with tablets experiencing their worst year-on-year performance since the device category’s creation.

Strategy Analytics’ figures show that shipments fell 11% over the last quarter of the year and 8% over 2015 as a whole — or 224.3 million devices sold in total.

Consumers’ growing preference for phablets — i.e., handsets with a display larger than 5.1-inches — has been eroding the appeal for smaller tablets for some time but the drop-off in interest is about more than simply screen size. Unlike other mobile devices, tablets have remained largely stagnant in terms of what they offer their users.

The iPad Pro will take time to establish itself

Peter King, Research Director, Tablet & Touchscreen Strategies service, said, “Apple suffered big setbacks this year as a lack of innovation during the last several years caught up to iPad sales.”

Samsung To Release All Apps For iPhone?

As well as growing demand for bigger phones, this lack of perceived innovation could explain why tablets with the 2-in-1 form factor, such as Microsoft’s Surface devices, are bucking the trend. Strategy Analytics’ data shows shipments jumped by 379% year on year.

Eric Smith, Senior Analyst, Tablet & Touchscreen Strategies service, added, “2-in-1 detachable tablets have reached an inflection point in 2015 as computing needs continue to trend more and more mobile and tablets with Windows 10 can compete against iOS in the premium and high price bands and equally well against Android in the mid and lower price bands. The Q4 2015 launch of Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book was met with many “Surface clones” by Microsoft’s OEM partners at lower price points. This variety of devices will bolster momentum of Windows tablets going forward.”

There is belief that Apple’s iPad Pro will develop into a very desirable device: “We see real long-term potential for [it] in the enterprise and verticals,” said King. But experts believe it will take time.

However, reports suggest that Apple will be addressing this lack of innovation in its mainstream iPad range as soon as March. Several sources have claimed the iPad Air 3, Apple’s 9-inch slate, is going to get a better camera, complete with flash, four rather than two speakers, and, most importantly, considering the booming popularity of 2-in-1s, the same smart connector that’s on the iPad Pro for clipping to proper keyboards and other peripherals.

PIA Employees, LEAs Clash At Jinnah Terminal Karachi!

PIA Smuggling

In a bid to disperse protesting Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees at Jinnah Terminal, security personnel resorted to baton-charging and using rubber bullets, water cannons and tear gas shells on Tuesday, as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called for implementation of the Essential Services Act.

An injured protester Inayat Raza, who sustained a bullet wound in his chest during the protest, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital. Raza was a member of PIA’s engineering department.

Deputy Inspector General East Kamran Fazal said bullet casings were collected to ascertain who opened fire on the protesters. He claimed the bullets were not fired by policemen. “We instructed our personnel not to handle the protesters violently. We are trying to find out who initiated the clash,” he said.

“No Rangers personnel has fired to control the protest at Jinnah Terminal today,” Rangers Public Relations Officer said in an official statement.

At least three other people, including a DawnNews cameraman, were injured during the protest, as security officials also dispersed journalists and media personnel covering the incident, DawnNews reported.

Essential Services Maintenance Act 1952 for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was given the green signal by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday 1st February, 2016.

Pervaiz Rashid, Federal Minister for Information told the media, “Let me make clear that those who continue the strike will be treated as enemies of PIA and Pakistan and they will end up losing their jobs.”

He also added that the national airlines was experiencing a deficit of Rs 30 billion and these strikes only hinder the growth. However, today the employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) who were protesting were dispersed by water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets and were charged with batons as well.

Nasrullah Khan, President of Pakistan Airlines Cabin Crew Association and spokesman for JAC said that the protests will continue unless the government accepts the four point agenda.

PIA Employees On Strike Against Govt!

PIA JAC’s four-point agenda:

  • The Government should immediately take back the bill passed on January 21 converting the national flag carrier into a public limited company.
  • PIA’s employees be provided a chance to reform the airline. If the employees fail to do so, the government will have the freedom to do whatever it finds suitable.
  • Privatisation, in any form, whether it is in the form of a strategic partner or selling off 36 percent or 1pc of the organisation’s shares, is not acceptable to the employees.
  • The Government should immediately review the aviation policy and form a committee for this purpose comprising members from PIA employees’ JAC along with PIA experts Khursheed Anwar, Kamran Hasan and Salahuddin.

World’s First ‘Robot Run’ Farm To Open In Japan

Robot-Run-Farm-in-Japan

A Japanese firm said Monday it would open the world’s first fully automated farm with robots handling almost every step of the process, from watering seedlings to harvesting crops.

Kyoto-based Spread said the indoor grow house will start operating by the middle of 2017 and produce 30,000 heads of lettuce a day. It hopes to boost that figure to half a million lettuce heads daily within five years.

A robot-run farm aims to produce pesticide-free lettuce that will also have more beta carotene than other farm-grown lettuce

The farm, measuring about 4,400 square metres (47,300 square feet), will have floor-to-ceiling shelves where the produce is grown.

“Seed planting will still be done by people, but the rest of the process, including harvesting, will be done (by industrial robots),” company official Koji Morisada told AFP.

The move to robot labour would chop personnel costs by about half and knock energy expenses down by nearly one third, Morisada added.

The pesticide-free lettuce will also have more beta carotene than other farm-grown lettuce, the company said.

Robot-obsessed Japan has repeatedly turned to automated workers to fill labour shortages that are projected to get worse as the country rapidly ages.

Anupam Kher Denied Pakistani Visa By Authorities

Anupam-Kher

Anupam Kher, one of the most diversified actors of Bollywood, was denied Pakistani visa on Tuesday, reports Indian media. The veteran actor desired to travel to Pakistan to attend the Karachi Literature Festival being held on 5th February 2016; however he was denied the visa, according to CNN-IBN News.

“Of 18 people, 17 granted visa except me,” Anupam Kher told the newspaper.

Anupam-Kher

According to the Indian Media, the actor was supposed to attend the Karachi Literature Festival that is scheduled in Karachi for February 5th, 6th, and 7th.

The three-day festival promises 11 sessions that will be carried by 262 speakers, including 38 foreign speakers, whereas eight countries will be represented in the event and 21 books will be launched. Anupam Kher was amongst the key notable Indians speakers for the KLF event.

On the other hand, a source in Pakistan High Commission said that the actor has not even applied for a Pakistani visa yet. “He has not submitted a visa application. Please check from him if he has any receipt,” Pakistan High Commission spokesperson Manzoor Ali Memon informed the news reporters.

It’s not the first time that the actor has been denied a Pakistani Visa. Last year, the actor was invited by a Pakistani NGO to attend an event in Lahore. However, the visa application of Kher was rejected on the basis of security reasons.

Aamir Khan Trolled & Thrashed By Indian Media!

Soon after the incident, the veteran actor turned towards Twitter and lashed Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs as why he was denied the visa for a second time in a row.

“Have been informed that Pakistan MoFA has denied permission for my visa to participate in the Karachi Literature festival,” Anupam said in a tweet.

“Has my visa been denied because I speak about India’s rich tradition of tolerance or I am a Kashmiri Pandit who may expose Pak terror nexus?” Anupam questioned via a tweet.

“Didn’t Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs red flag my name to Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi? Why hide facts deliberately?” he further asked.

“I feel bad for all those people who were looking forward to meet me in Pakistan and vice versa. Sorry to them. Hopefully one day…,” he added.

Kher further said that he will present proof and documents to prove the lies of Pakistan High Commission who claim that he didn’t apply for a visa; he even announced holding a press conference at his school.

Pakistan’s Ajmal Targets World T20 Return

Saeed-Ajmal

Pakistan’s discarded off-spinner Saaed Ajmal says he is hopeful of proving his form in a forthcoming domestic league as he targets a return to national colours in the World Twenty20 this March.

The 38-year-old, whose accuracy and deceptive doosra helped drive his team to victory in the 2009 edition,  has struggled to make an impact since coming back last February from a five-month ban for chucking.

He took just one wicket in two ODIs when he last played, against Bangladesh, in April, and a paltry 16 wickets at 55 apiece for his English county side Worcestershire.

But speaking on the sidelines of a launch event for Islamabad United, one of five teams taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be held in the UAE this month, Ajmal said he had worked on technical flaws and rediscovered his old menace.

Saeed-Ajmal

“I’ve gotten a good platform and working on my goals. You are going to see theSaeed Ajmal of old,” he said.

“The World Cup is after this. and I want to perform well and make myself available for the team.”

Ajmal, who was picked as a last minute ‘supplementary player’ by the capital’s team, pointed to better showings in Bangladesh’s T20 league last November as proof the magic had not deserted him.

Sania Mirza & Martina Hingis Win 3rd Women’s Doubles Title At Australian Open

Before being suspended in September 2014 for exceeding the 15-degree elbow flex limit set by the International Cricket Council, Ajmal was ranked the world’s number one bowler in ODIs and was almost as impressive in Tests. He famously captured 24 wickets in three Tests against England in 2012.

“When I made my comeback against Bangladesh I was lacking match practice,” he said. “I needed some time. Now I’ve had some time and I’ve been able to work on myself. I’ve got my variation back and you will see the results in the PSL.

“There were several issues. My arm was falling off too much to the side and I’ve worked on that and straightened it up. I’ve worked on my main ball and my doosra as well as my arm ball.

“The variation I got from the revolutions I’d put on the ball in the air — I’ve got that back and you’re going to enjoy watching it.”

Despite his optimism, it is unclear how much opportunity Ajmal will get to play as he competes for a place against teammate Samuel Badree, the West Indian leg spinner who is currently the world’s number one Twenty20 bowler.

But with Pakistan’s favoured slow bowler, leg-spinner Yasir Shah, currently suspended for a doping offence, the door could remain ajar for an improbable comeback.

Samsung To Release All Apps For iPhone?

Samsung has reportedly decided to release all of its apps to the iOS by the end of this year. The first device to officially witness this change is the Gear S2 Smartwatch. According to the report, the applications will offer iOS support to Samsung’s Gear 2 smartwatch, the Gear Fit health and exercise tracker, and the comprehensive S Health suite.

Some insider reports say that Samsung is also working on a newer version of the Smart Camera app for iOS, which might introduce an overhauled UI to the surface.

Gear Fit.Brandsynario

It has been a tough contest between Samsung and Apple over the years but the South Korean company has finalized the plan for cross-platform support just because it has seen a consistent drop in sales of high-end smartphones last year.

Samsung Offers Trade Deal: Exchange iPhone 6 & 6S With Galaxy S6 EDGE or Note 5

This changeover will increase utility of Samsung devices as it will provide an opportunity to Galaxy users to switch over to iPhone in terms of data and apps compatibility. Samsung’s Consumer Electronics Division has made sense by allowing use of iOS to relatively low income owners who can’t afford to have an iPhone.

Samsung Apps.Brandsynario

However, it’s still unclear when all other apps of Samsung are expected to come to iOS, but it’s unlikely they will all arrive at the same time.

One of the biggest benefits for Samsung on releasing its apps to iOS is likely to be that its existing owners will not move away to an iPhone when they have an option to use iOS on their devices. The company has taken this decision at a vital stage (start of a new year), when it has to be focused on maintaining flagship smartphone sales, a rather greater challenge.

Facing another division at the moment, may hamper company’s strategy, vital for its fortune and future in the global market.

Messi Seeks To Meet Afghan Boy In Plastic Jersey

Messi

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is hoping to arrange a meeting with an Afghan boy who shot to fame after pictures of him dressed in a striped plastic bag jersey went viral, Kabul’s football federation said Monday.

Five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi idolises the Argentine soccer star but a jersey of his favourite player is beyond the means of his poor family in the volatile province of Ghazni near Kabul.

His elder brother Homayoun, 15, made him the blue-and-white-striped plastic shirt with Messi‘s named scrawled in marker pen and posted the photos of Murtaza wearing it on Facebook in mid-January.

Jorge Messi, Lionel’s father, told AFP on Saturday that the footballer was aware of the photos that made waves on social media and “wants to do something” for his young fan.

This photo taken on January 24, 2016 and provided by the family of Afghan boy and Lionel Messi fan, five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi, shows him wearing a plastic bag jersey as he plays football in Jaghori district of Ghazni province.

The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) on Monday said Messi was keen to meet Murtaza as soon as possible though no date or venue has so far been finalised.

Messi has been in communication with the federation to set up a meeting with the young boy,” AFF spokesman Sayed Ali Kazemi told AFP.

“We are working to see whether Messi will come to Afghanistan or the five-year-old will travel to Spain or they will meet in a third country.”

Lionel Messi Named Global Ambassador For Dubai Expo 2020

There was no immediate comment from FC Barcelona.

Setting up a meeting in Afghanistan, in the grip of a fierce Taliban insurgency, is fraught with security challenges.

The Spanish embassy in Kabul told AFP it would do whatever possible to facilitate a meeting in a European destination.

Murtaza’s father, a poor farmer in Ghazni’s Jaghori district, admitted he could not afford to buy him a replica jersey, adding that Murtaza only had a punctured ball to play with.

Photos of the boy wearing the improvised Messi jersey — made from grocery bags discarded by their neighbour — has touched a chord with football fans around the world.

Sports were rarely played under Taliban rule, and the football stadium in Kabul was a notorious venue for executions, stonings and mutilations.

Football and cricket are the two most popular sports in the war-ravaged country.

Hafeez Banned From Bowling In PSL 2016

Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez, who is still under the 12-month bowling ban enforced by the ICC has not been permitted to bowl in the domestic tournament, PSL. However, according to the ICC policy, the cricketers are allowed to take part in the local cricket tournaments even with the ban on playing international cricket in place, the PSL has surprisingly decided to follow the ruling by ICC instead.

The 35-year-old cricketer is currently serving a 12-month bowling ban from the International Cricket Council (ICC); however he is bowling in national cricket.

Hafeez

The cricketer’s action was reported once again, during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s final held between UBL and SNPGL, last month.

“The rules we are following are from the highest standard and we decided to stick with the ICC’s ruling against any player,” commented the management of PSL. “We understand that Mohammad Hafeez is presently banned and we will endorse the ICC’s decision and carry it in the league”.

“On the draft day before the players were picked, we were intimated that Hafeez was named as a batsman only as his bowling action was banned by the ICC. We are sticking with that. The team who picked him agreed before hand they were taking him only as a batsman. The rules were already cleared before the final pick and it was mutually agreed.”

In the PSL drafting, Mohammad Hafeez had been placed in Platinum category but was later assigned to the Diamond category instead. The Peshawar Zalmi took him in for $70,000 as the team’s coach, Mohammad Akram clarified, “I picked him as a batsman,” he also added,  “I know he has the ability to win games and it would have been a bonus if he was allowed to bowl but we will have to respect the authorities and rules of the game.”
