Indian Hackers Deface Pakistan Websites As Tribute To Lt Col Niranjan’s

A Kerala based Indian Hacker group named ‘Indian Black Hats’ have defaced seven of the Pakistani websites, including that of Pakistani Bar Council. The Indian hacker group declares dedicating the hacking to Lt Col Niranjan’s 18-month-old daughter. Lt Col Niranjan belonged to the National Security Guards.

According to the Indian hackers, their act is not a call of cyber war but is only the means of sending out a message to Pakistan after the terror attacks in Pathankot.

Talking to Times of India, the members assured that they did not delete any content from the websites that were hacked, but only uploaded an image of the late officer’s daughter, as a message to the Pakistani citizens. “This is not cyber war but sending a message,” a member said.

Netflix Comes to Pakistan Along with 129 Other Countries

Netflix – the World’s giant provider of on-demand Internet streaming media is finally available in Pakistan along with 129 other countries. Netflix has launched its service globally in more than 130 countries simultaneously.

The big news was announced by the Co-founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings at CES 2016’s Keynote session.

Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network with over 70 million members in over 190 countries enjoying more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films.

How to Subscribe & Activate Netflix in Pakistan

Members in Pakistan can now watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on nearly any Internet-connected screen. They can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.

Here is the basic price structure for Netflix members in Pakistan:

  • Basic: $7.99
  • Standard: $9.99
  • Premium: $11.99

In 2016, the company plans to release 31 new and returning original series, two dozen original feature films and documentaries, a wide range of stand-up comedy specials and 30 original kids series — available at the same time to members everywhere.

While largely available in English in most new countries, Netflix today added Arabic, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese to the 17 languages it already supports.

“From today onwards, we will listen and we will learn, gradually adding more languages, more content and more ways for people to engage with Netflix,” said Hastings. “We’re looking forward to bringing great stories from all over the world to people all over the world.”

Netflix will not yet be available in China though the company continues to explore options for providing the service. It also won’t be available in Crimea, North Korea and Syria due to U.S. government restrictions on American companies.

Since Netflix launched its streaming service in 2007, the service has expanded globally, first to Canada, then to Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan to include 60 countries.

It remains to be seen how Netflix,  a media-tech giant will far in Pakistan’s fluctuating speed.

Hamza Ali Abbasi Lashes Out at Adnan Sami For Leaving Pakistan!

Pakistani singer Adnan Sami has finally received his Indian citizenship. Many eyebrows were raised including Hamza Ali Abbasi’s, the beloved celebrity on social media. He took to his Facebook account to comment on the situation.

“We made Adnan Sami a star when he was over 100 kilograms and made Sargam a huge hit.”

Previously, Sami passed derogatory remarks regarding Pakistan and his association with the country.

Karachi will soon be receiving 2016’s first bout of winter rain, according to Weather Updates PK. A western disturbance is likely to effect Coastal Areas of Pakistan from tonight onwards, causing rainfall in the next 36 hours. The Global Forecast System and the Short Range Cola Precipitation Model are showing good amount of rainfall over the city.

Drizzling and light rainfall is expected in Karachi and adjoining areas from tonight.

However, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Karachi between 7th – 8th Jan 2016. As per close calculations, an estimated 2-5mm rain is expected in city during next 36 hours.

Massive Earthquake To Hit Himalayan Region Warn Experts

Following up with the recent trends of earthquakes in Pakistan and India, MHA experts have forecasted that a Big Quake is soon to hit the Himalayan area.

An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude was recorded some time back near Chitral in Northwest Pakistan and after the horrific earthquake of October 8th 2005, another massive earthquake of 7.7 magnitude jolted the Northern regions.

Two days ago, Northeast Indian hill state of Manipur was jolted by an earthquake of 6.7 magnitude. The  experts at Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have predicted that an earthquake of cataclysmic proportions of about 8.2 magnitude or more will rock the Himalayan area. The disaster management in these crowded cities could prove impossible and the casualties could rise to an unprecedented number.

This could  also spell danger for the Northern areas of Pakistan including Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as the aftershocks could rattle the region and prove to be fatal in nature.

The recent earthquakes in the region that occurred in Nepal in 2015, Sikkam in 2011 and in Manipur, not three days ago have deepened the ruptures in the existing cracks of the tectonic plates; this can lead to quite a few earthquakes exceeding the 8.0 mark on the Richter scale.

Massive Earthquake Jolts Pakistan Again!

There are four seismic zones in India; Zone IV has potentially high risk associated as Delhi also falls under this classification. However, the northeastern region is included in the most dangerous and active Zone V  comprising Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Nicobar Islands and Andaman.

Roger Bilham, an expert on seismology at the University of Colorado had this to say about the earthquake, “The current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude. And if they delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes.”

However, after the Nepal earthquake hit, the states in the hilly areas have become apprehensive. The earthquake in Manipur wasn’t able to liberate the pressure on the plates entirely. As per the experts at the NIDM the situation has only worsened, “The collision between the Himalayan plate in the north and the Indo-Burmese plate in the east and the risk created as a result is the highest at this moment.”

Islamabad to Get a New Sister City in Europe

The Federal Govt. has recently declared toname Islamabad as the sister city of Minsk, the capital and the largest city of Belarus. The final approval summary has been handed over to the Cabinet Division.

The recent claims of the Federal Govt. revealed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid a visit to Belarus a few months ago where both the governments agreed on the decision of making Islamabad and Minsk the sister cities.

In regard to this decision, The Capital Authority (CDA), through The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has submitted a summary to the Cabinet Division for final approval.

A CDA official said, “Under the agreement, there will be active cooperation between the two capitals in different fields, including municipal administration and youth development.”

Actor Mishi Khan Accused of Stealing from a Lady Doctor!

Famous Pakistani actress of yesteryears, Mishi Khan has been charged with a swindling case by a District court in Rawalpindi. According to the charge sheet, Khan allegedly took money from a from homeopathic lady doctor Afshan Khan, in July last year, to run a promotional campaign of her clinic and beauty salon but failed to keep her end of the bargain.

Khan has so far denied all charges against her. According to reports, civil judge Kashif Javed indicted the actor for criminal breach of trust. Khan’s counsel had argued before the court that the petitioner has changed her counsel twice and the bail plea was being deliberately delayed.

Twitter Revises Rules To Fight Abuse & Hate Speech

Micro-blogging site, Twitter has yet changed its rules regarding hate speech, abusive behavior, and criticism.

The social networking site has simplified its definition of offensive comments and posts. Take a look at the changes posted on Twitter’s blog on Tuesday.

According to Megan Cristina, the director of Trust and Safety has stated that “As always, we embrace and encourage diverse opinions and beliefs, but we will continue to take action on accounts that cross the line into abuse.”

These revised and updated rules have not mentioned any particular group or people or sect of people by name. Using any kind of harassing means to silence the opinion of another user is considered intolerant behavior and it shall be reprimanded and blocked out.

There is a clear statement in the revised rules which states that, “You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability or disease.”

DC Comics’ Stereotypical Blunder! Pakistanis Don’t Speak Pakistanian!

Pakistan has been featured in the latest Superman & Wonder Woman Annual #2 comic by DC, but apparently the editorial team doesn’t know that Pakistani people don’t speak “Pakistanian.”

In the comic, just before Wonder Woman shows up to do battle with Dichara, a thief who’s stolen weapons from Hephaestus, writer K. Perkins slips in an editor’s note explaining that two Pakistani mens’ dialogue has been translated.

According to Fusion.net, the language is described as non-descript “Pakistanian” rather than the grammatically correct “Pakistani” or, better yet, any one of the specific, actual languages spoken near the Shimshal village.

The mistake was brought to light by Khaver Siddiqi, a social media consultant from Karachi.

“Think of it this way, for some people who read this comic this may or may not be their only exposure to Pakistan,” Siddiqi says to Fusion.net.

“It is offensive (to me) to think that you can’t respect a culture or nation not to do some basic research about its people or language when you are about to use it in your story.”

North Korea Tests Hydrogen Bomb & Pakistani Twitter Reacts

North Korea says it has successfully carried out a hydrogen bomb test, which if confirmed, will be a first for the reclusive regime and a significant advancement for its military ambitions.

A hydrogen bomb is more powerful than plutonium weapons, which is what North Korea used in its three previous underground nuclear tests.

“If there’s no invasion on our sovereignty we will not use a nuclear weapon,” the North Korean state news agency said. “This H-bomb test brings us to a higher level of nuclear power.”

A senior U.S. administration told CNN it could take days to obtain the scientific data to determine whether this was a successful test.

Branding itself as “One Epic Romance”, the promising plot features a  new take on Indo-Pak relations. The story revolves around a bubbly Indian girl Alia, played by Sanam and the Pakistani taxi driver, Vicky. Their fates entwine together on an adventurous journey to Mauritius.  Not much is revealed about Adeel’s character in the 2 min clip, but we are sure he will be adding twist in the tale by being the villain between the protagonists.

The directorial endeavor of Nasir Khan boasts tons of eye-catching scenery and musical composition by top Pakistani artists.

In the recent interview with BBC Urdu, the versatile actress Mahira Khan spoke about the ‘Fairness Complex’ that is a major problem in the Pakistani society. The actress claimed that she would not endorse any fairness or beauty cream ads.

Mahira Khan while speaking with BBC Urdu said that she does not understand the idea of such obsession of being fair. She expressed her views by requesting the nation to break the fairness obsession prevailing in the society.

In an industry where a number of A-list celebrities have very popularly endorsed fairness creams, Mahira has gone against the norm and is determined to stick to her values.

While explaining her comments, she also said that she is not against any person who endorses or promotes such fairness creams, but she has her own opinion towards it and she does not propagate the concept of endorsements or advertisements for this particular product line.

“I don’t judge people who use or endorse fairness creams but it is dangerous when this whole concept gives you a complex. Which, I know for a fact, it does because when women talk [about girls] in our society, they ask ‘gori hay’? what sort of a question is that?”

“I don’t know if we have a complex of being fair or whether we are just fond of fair complexion,” she added.
